Best League Win:
9-0 v Aldershot 28/12/1946 Division
3 South
Last meeting: Bristol
City 1, Norwich City 0 (May
9, 1999): City's season ended
flatly with a 1-0 defeat at
Bristol City. Canaries manager
Bruce Rioch was swift to point
to the number of chances spurned
by the Canaries which enabled
Lorenzo Pinamonte's lone 40th
minute strike to separate the
two sides.
Last Norwich away win:
26/04/1980 Bristol City 2, Norwich
3 (Robson 2, Peters)
Chances: The
Robins will be expecting big
things from new signing Ivan
Sproule – once a Norwich
City target – with the
former Hibernian winger arriving
with a good reputation from
the Scottish Premier League.
City lost just three times at
Ashton Gate last season and
manager Gary Johnson will be
hoping his side can replicate
this kind of form in the Championship.
After finally making it back
into the second-tier, Johnson
has brought in some big names
to keep City in the division.
Johnson has proved himself to
be an excellent manager in the
lower leagues and will need
all his experience and a big
home crowd at Ashton Gate. It
will be interesting to see if
the flamboyant Trundle can make
the step up after been watched
by several big clubs for several
years at Swansea.
Prediction: 19th
