Last
meeting: Norwich City 1, Derby
County 2 (March 6, 2007): Norwich’s
Championship revival was cruelly
halted by title contenders Derby
in a thrilling Carrow Road see-saw
contest. Peter Grant’s
fighters matched County blow
for a blow but it was ex-Man
United starlet David Jones’
second-half double that pushed
Derby back to the Championship
summit after edging his battle
of the young guns. City’s
brightest star Chris Martin
deservedly nudged the hosts
ahead with a clinical lash from
the edge of the area before
Jones curled a sublime leveller
past Tony Warner. The talented
midfielder secured the points
when he latched onto Giles Barnes’
cheeky back heel.

Derby County 0, Norwich City
4 (Fleming, Mackay, McVeigh,
McKenzie)
Chances:
Officially the worst team in
the history of the Premier League,
Jewell and Derby seemed to have
accepted relegation only a few
weeks into the season. Since
walking into the job at Pride
Park, Jewell has been rebuilding
the side with the likes of Kenny
Miller departing. Now they should
be a strong Championship outfit,
lead by the likes of Robbie
Savage who can still be an influence
despite entering the veteran
stage of his career. With plenty
of money to spend thanks to
American backers, Jewell, who
has previously got Bradford
and Wigan out of this division
while be expecting to do the
same with Derby.
