Last meeting: Millwall 0, Norwich
City 0 (December 6, 2003): Norwich
City secured a hard-earned point with
a goalless draw at the New Den - an
added bonus being Kevin Muscat, the
player all City fans love to hate,
received his marching orders. City
fought tremendous rearguard action
for much of the second half, which
however, could have all been undone
on the 90th minute as Chadwick broke
free one-on-one with Green but the
City stopper stood firm to collect
the ball. The most poignant moment
for the match was reserved for after
the final whistle when Peter Crouch
signalled that his loan spell had
come to an end.
Chances: Millwall
have taken a major gamble in the appointment
of Steve Claridge as the man to succeed
Dennis Wise at the New Den. Claridge
may have a passion for the club but
he has little experience of management
at such a high level and to make his
task harder the Lions squad has been
weakened by the departures of tricky
winger Paul Ifill and solid defender
Darren Ward to rival Championship
clubs. Millwall fans may therefore
have to be satisfied with a mid-table
finish at best as Claridge finds his
feet and stamps his own mark on the
team.
