Last meeting: Norwich City
2, Sheffield United 1 (March 18, 2006):
Norwich City completed the double
over Sheffield United following two
well-taken first half goals from strikers
Leon McKenzie and Robert Earnshaw.
It was the Canaries' fourth straight
home victory. The promotion jitters
looked to have taken a grip of the
Yorkshire-based team, although they
did throw everything at City in the
closing stages. United did look the
more dangerous in the opening exchanges
and deserved to take the lead in the
17th minute through Chris Armstrong
but after that, they rarely threatened
to score again as the Canaries' rearguard
remained strong. Full

Norwich 3 (McVeigh, Ashton, Morgan

Chances: The Blades
have spent most of the summer arguing
about the legality of Carlos Tevez's
transfer to West Ham and their "unfair"
relegation from the Premiership, leaving
pre-season preparations very difficult
for new manager Bryan Robson. The
former England captain has been splashing
the cash as the club bid to climb
back to the Premier League after their
acrimonious relegation, but the loss
of Phil Jagielka to Everton for £4m
will have disappointed Robson. Sharp
and Beattie should score plenty of
goals, while Hendrie, who starred
for Stoke last season, will be the
creative force. The pressure to be
promoted will be intense on Robson
but his side should make the play-offs
at the very least. United look like
the sort of club who will struggle
to adapt to life back in the Championship
and must put the Tevez row behind
them quickly.
Prediction: 3rd
