Okay, so he scored only three goals
from open play all season, but Huckerby was still a deserving
winner of the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy. After a spell
up front he eventually graduated towards the left flank where
he always looked a threat. Was City's most dangerous player
over the course of the season by some distance.
Verdict: Will be
a key player next term when his markers are likely to possess
a good deal less quality than their Premiership counterparts.
Expect him to cause mayhem on a regular basis.
OFF DUTY (2004):
Marital status: Married to Lyndsey.
Children: Thomas (4), Ben (2).
Home: We’re looking at the moment!
Current car: Mitsubishi Evolution.
First car: An ‘E’ reg Fiat Uno.
How do you relax away from football?: I’m
a family man and like spending time with my wife and kids.
I’m also a great fan of boxing and basketball and I
love watching both on the telly.
Favourite other sport to play: Tennis.
Favourite other sport to watch: I mentioned
them earlier - basketball and boxing. As far as football is
concerned I’ll switch on for the big games, but I’m
not a great watcher to be honest.
Favourite holiday destination: Monaco.
Favourite television programme: The Sopranos.
Favourite film: Goodfellas.
Favourite restaurant/eating place: I haven’t
been in Norfolk long enough to form an opinion on that one.
Favourite read: Anything to do with boxing.
Recommended listening: Easy listening. I
haven’t got a particular favourite artist or band.
Best thing about living in Norfolk: There’s
a lot of space and once you get out of the city you can get
about because the traffic isn’t too bad.
Worst thing about living in Norfolk: I can’t
think of one. I really like it here.
Whose result do you look out for first?:
Nottingham Forest. I was born and brought up in the city.
What was the first team you ever played for?:
As a boy, Clifton All Whites in Nottingham. From there I moved
on to Lincoln City.
What would you have done if you hadn’t made
the grade?: Something that kept me active. Maybe
a fireman or something like that.
What will you do when your playing career is over?:
I wouldn’t have thought it will have anything to do
with football. It’s not something I’ve given too
much thought to yet.
