Pub: The Lakeside Beefeater, which is near Stadium Way,
is open to away fans before and after the game, and is the best place to
head for.
Last league meeting: Doncaster Rovers 1, Norwich City 1
(January 30, 2009): Gary Doherty and Darel Russell led by example for Norwich
City as they suffered in the line of duty against Doncaster at the Keepmoat
Stadium, both needing the attention of a doctor before leaving the field
– one for swift repairs and the other to hospital. But it was on-loan
defender Jonathan Grounds who used his head most tellingly to earn the Canaries
the point that kept them above fellow strugglers Rovers in the Championship
table, albeit still precariously placed in 19th. Grounds’ goal, just
after an hour of play, cancelled out Paul Heffernan’s first-half opener
for Doncaster and preserved new boss Bryan Gunn’s unbeaten start to
life in the Carrow Road hot seat.
City connection: Ex-Scunthorpe striker Billy Sharp almost
joined Norwich, but Sheffield United topped Peter Grant’s bid £2m bid.
