Pinkun Top 10 Albums of All Time
I wonder if we have enough posters or interest to be able to do our own Poster's Choice Top 10 Albums? Well, even if we don't, I'm going to try to get the ball rolling anyways... lHere's some rules, to start:

Cut-off date for each poster's personal Top 10 is 6th July
Points system - 10 points to 1st place, 9 points to 2nd, etc, down to 1 point for 10th.
No compilation or "best of" albums (Live albums are valid, however)
And I can't think of any more off the top of my head....

So, here goes, to start us off!

1 - Sound of Silver - LCD Soundsystem
2 - Remain in Light - Talking Heads
3 - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots - The Flaming Lips
4 - The Blue Album - Weezer
5 - Kick Up The Fires, Let The Flames Break Loose - The Cooper Temple Clause
6 - London Calling - The Clash
7 - The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
8 - Natural History - I Am Kloot
9 - Automatic for the People - REM
10 - The Moon & Antarctica - Modest Mouse

Jesus, that was actually much harder than I thought it would be... The top 5 were almost impossible to rank one above the other, and there were about another 9 albums that could have occupied the rest of the spaces... and I'm still not sure I've made the right choice... oh well, c'est la vie... hope other people actually join in now, else I'm gonna have just wasted half an hour of my time.... Tongue Tied [:S]

Revolver - The Beatles

Who's Next - The Who

Led Zepellin II

Dark Side of the Moon

Working Man's Dead - Grateful Dead

The Driver - Buddy Rich

Sticky Fingers - Rolling Stones

Quadrophenia - The Who

New Boots and Panties - Ian dury

The Pastoral Symphony - Ludwig Van Beethoven

This is far from my final definitive choice, but they are all albums I can bear to listen to time and again, and there is some variety of musical styles in there. They are not listed in order of preference.

A couple of corrections. I mispelt Led Zeppelin - I always have had difficulty with the correct placement of double letters in words, and I should have typed Workingman's Dead instead of what I did. Also the V in van in the great German composer's name should be lower case. There, I think that's enough corrections for one day.

War Stories by Unkle is an inspired choice, but I'm afraid Melting Pot by Charlatans counts as a compilation, really... I'd happily accept Up To Our Hips though...Smile [:)]

Fair enough, i will change the Charlatans album as you appreciate the choice of Unkle.  Am off to London in July to see them at Somerset House on the Strand - should be a good night!

Re: Pinkun Top 10 Albums of All Time

Just 10???!?  Not sure I can do that but here goes, and in no particular order

REM                               Life Rich Pageant (probably or maybe Document)

The Stone Roses               The Stone Roses

Lou Reed                        Transformer

Depeche Mode                 Speak & Spell (or Black celebration)

New Order                     Power Corruption & Lies

The Undertones               The Undertones

The Specials                   The Specials

The White Stripes               Elephant

The House of Love            The House Of Love

Talking Heads                     Stop Making Sense

and that is ignoring my enduring love of Porcupine & Ocean Rain, and the albums which pop to mind of  Flood, Different Class, Definitely Maybe, Franz Ferdinand, Candy Apple Grey, Bat out of Hell Embarrassed [:$], Lovesexy, Kinks Kontroversy, 3 feet high and rising, Parrallel Lines (first album purchase :-) ), 3 gold bars, most stuff by either David Byrne or Terry Hall,  London 0 Hull 4, one step beyond, Nowhere, Sex Packets or an end has a start....  which has to be the start of the end of my rantings...

Zip, your list included at least 4 that would have gone in mine, too.... its tough this, isn't it...? A year ago Stop Making Sense would have been in there, but Remain in Light has just taken over my life almost completely since!
