Linfield Football Club have agreed in principle to accept an offer from Stockport County FC for the transfer of Peter Thompson for an undisclosed fee.

The player has been given permission to talk to Stockport County in a bid to finalise a deal.

An offer for the player was received from Norwich City FC but this club's Management Committee was unable to accept the terms.

Linfield Football Club would like to place on record the club's appreciation of the outstanding contribution made by Peter to the club's successes in recent years. He has been an exemplary sportsman and ambassador for this club and his prolific goalscoring record bears favourable comparism with the greats of this club.

Everyone at Linfield extends to Peter every best wish and hopes for success in his future playing career.

Not Jason by the way, but it was mentioned earlier that stockport had a bid accepted, not that ours was rejected.

Its about bloody typical that Norwich city get out bid by bloody Stockport of all people. I mean this player wasn't exactly going to cost alot and good old Neil Fredrick Doomcaster couldn't get the Norwich fire department to use the jaws of life to open that most tightest of things, the Norwich City FC wallet. For gods sake show some bloody ambition city!

Not sure if you're being ironic there or not BunnyB, but this is how I see it:

We either a) can't have rated him that highly at all or b) he's not ambitious enough as a player to try his luck at a Championship side as opposed to a League One side.

That's if he definitely does go there, as apparently it's not official yet.

FGS, we were not out-bid by Stockport! Can you not read?

"An offer for the player was received from Norwich City FC but this club's Management Committee was unable to accept the terms."

It must be about money. Possibly when they were paid?

Depending on appearances possibly?

Sell-on clause, etc, etc. Remember that we have had our fingers burnt in the past, lets let the likes of Stockport get mugged off....we are too big a club for that.

Aye, when he's banging in the goals for stockport, sign him up for 3 times the amount as a guaranteed goal threat. At least this way we won't be wasting money wages and goalscoring time on this fella
