And finally... can we please try to agree on a Talking Heads album between us for crying out loud! I thought Remain in Light would be a shoe-in, along with Stop Making Sense... I nicked this idea off the Empire forums and so many posters selected my choice as well that I thought it couldn't lose lol.

Remain in Light is just one Psychokiller away from entering my top ten and Stop making sense is a live album. I chose to disregard live albums because firstly I have in excess of 1000 "bootlegs" in my collection and you just quantify them in so many different ways it would be impossible to decide which were best. The best quality boot doesn't have the best setlist, and the one with the best setlist doesn't have the best atmosphere ad infinitum. Studio produced "Live" albums are so overdubbed and remixed that they often bear little resemblance to the original performance hence the otherwise excellent "SMS" failing to reach my top ten along with the likes of From Here to Eternity, Hanx, Live Xcert, Mutiny on the Bay etc.

Got to agree with you - one of the best anyway. I was "relaxed" late at night a couple of weekends ago and put it on. If you're in the right state of mind there's nothing to beat it.

Yoshimi... is another good album to listen to whilst "relaxing", particularly if you stick the iTunes Visualiser on and sit back and enjoy the show.... Smile [:)]

The age thing is interesting - can you tell roughly how old people are by their list?

Evil M - mid thirties?
Destort - a bit younger - late twenties/thirty?
FilletTheFishWife - 42?
The Anonymous One - bit older, late forties?
Shack - late thirties?
Sparkos - thirty, maybe a little older
Wizened Wizard - late forties or a little older
ZippersLeftFoot - 45?, but giving Parallel Lines as your first album helps!
Blainsey - 34
Berkshire Canary - early thirties
Herman ze German - about thirty, but could be way out
blahblahblah - mid to late thirty
Desi Rascall - (as long as that's not you in the picture!) thirty
rumoleboy - probably 35 ish but rock is sort of ageless so could be anything
Ginger Pele - lateish twenties? (Adam Ant - the last true pop star!)
Coelho - 25-30
Karl P - 25-30
Mister Chops - 35?
Jas - 25?
Stone Cold - 30
Thecanaryfan - 30?
Worst Wizard - 40ish
slater - tricky, 45?
Willmeister - anything between 20 and 60! Probably over 40
Son ova Gunn - 30!

So, how close? If I'm way out that's probably a good thing - you're not defined by your age. Unless I think you're 20 years older than you are, in which case get out more!

Willmeister, that's the trouble with "serious" rock, or whatever the correct term is. I bet there are loads of 15 year olds who's taste isn't that different from yours, and probably a fair few 50 year olds too - in fact I know a couple in their late forties. Is it just that it's been around for longer? There aren't any punk or ska bands around any more. May be reggae is similar?

Re: Pinkun Top 10 Albums of All Time

Reggae and Ska is starting to make a comeback, where as southern rock/hard rock/metal has always been around, in fact it is the most popular genre in terms of worldwide sale. I think the state of the hard rock world is incredibly healthy at the moment. I have to put Vulgar Display of Power as my number one album, because in my humble opinion no album has had such an effect on the music industry like that.

It was in the early nineties when hard rock/metal was in decline because of the grunge revolution, Pantera came out and have very widely because of that album been credited for saving metal. Now there are lots of new bands that are capturing the spirit of bands like Lynyrd skynyrd, Mountain, Black Sabbath, Led Zep etc. that really dirty riff driven music, which to me is just so awesome. So you are completely right that 50 year olds to fifty year olds listen to this stuff.

44 in August. Well done.

p.s. my first album "Slayed" by Slade, my last album Alabama 3 (best of).

my favourite bands are 70s classic rock and punk/new wave. although they dominate my top ten i like to think i have a broad taste in music

before i started my family i used to play regularly in Norwich pubs (Hog in Armour and Kings Head in Magdalen) playing bass in a punk/new wave covers band

new manager.
new players.
Same old sh!te.

Cheeky get, I'm 26! I did inherit the Talking Heads and REM obsessions from my Dad and the Clash independently, but Stone Roses are purely from my time as a 90s Indie Kid and LCD and Kloot suggest recent influences, so I can understand your confusion... Stick out tongue [:P]

Rock is indeed timeless. By coincidence I'm listening to Dark Side of the Moon and "relaxing" to it... Smile [:)]
