Southampton on the brink!

The football league have turned down Saints leave to appeal against the 10 point reduction which Pinnacle group demanded as a condition of takeover.............

Re: Southampton on the brink!

Judging by some of their fan's responses it wouldn't appear so...

"Don't Panic. If MLT's roup's bid was dependant on having the 10 points back then it seems to be based on shaky ground, particularly as they were short of cash (100k and not 500k deposit, 15m for the club and very little else). It's time for the Marc Jackson group to move in with their 100m now, buy the club, install KK as manager, give him 20m to spend and erase those 10 points in a month. Marc Jackson is the answer. Bye Bye Pinnacle."

Oh............ so this is the road some think we should go down to make Delia suffer!

Admin/loss of league status/freeze on transfers/ no wages being paid/ -10 points...............

Will Southampton survive?........ probably........... but it will take a while for them to dig out of this hole.

Sounds like wishful thinking to me.  The Keegan link was due to him meeting Le Tissier for lunch,  Le Tissier is with the pinnacle group.  This chap seems to have his wires crossed a bit.

If the other group were so good why wouldn't they be the administrators prefered bid!

I am utterly convinced BlyBlyBabes is actually a computer trying (and failing) to pass the turing test.

What would worry me if I were a saints fan is that the pinnacle group seems to have really tight finances.................Not healthy if you want to dig out of the hole!

They basically bought a month of exclusive negotiations while they looked at the books in details. (and probably tried to raise further finances)

The excuse about appealing the 10 points makes no sense.......... The club is in admin....the baord is gone....... wages are not being paid.

On what grounds could they appeal?

Rumor has it that there were a few other people/groups interested that looked at the books and ran.........really fast.

This might just get really really ugly pretty soon.

If the players don't get paid for an extended period........... doesn't that let them leave the club on free transfers?

I am sure there must be a football league contract rule somewhere to protect the players.

This mess dragging on actually helps us a little as Norwich is now one of the most desirable clubs to play for in the bottom 2 divisions.

This should help us at the end of the month when many more quality free agents hit the market or players looking to make a step up.

And maybe without so much prudence and so little ambition, and maybe without so much going into OFF field activites and more ON field we would be in the dizzy heights of the PL still, who knows, you nor I nor anyone else knows the answer, but we could guess until the cows come home. Smile [:)]

Re: Southampton on the brink!
surely they knew that the chance of that was fairly remote .
i could not imagine that happening seems like a lot of hassle when they should have checked this out first .
anyone knows penalty points apply if a club goes into administration surely the people who wanted to buy or take over the club should have realised that before even thinking about taking over a club .

Re: Southampton on the brink!
Marc Jackson is the guy who said he wanted to buy Bournemouth. He led the administrators and fans there a merry dance for a few months and then decided it wasn't for him. Most fans of the clubs around that area think he's a wind-up merchant.

It'd surprise me if Mark Fry (Saints administrator) is talking to him seriously with his track record.

So £8.5 million on player wages wasn't enough for you?

Re: Southampton on the brink!
The latest word tonight from Pinnacle is that the League ruling  is "not a deal-breaker". Which suggests either Pinnacle was - understandably - just trying it on, or that it is now attempting to make light of things, or that it doesn't have a clue what it's doing. What is certain is that the exclusivity period it had (for which it paid £500,000) has now expired.

All in all, not the best advertisement for going into administration.
