Football fans donated £2,591 to charity on the day of Norwich City’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

There were bucket collections around Carrow Road for the Community Sports Foundation’s (CSF) Sporting Light Appeal on Sunday.

Around 50 supporters volunteered their time to be ground collectors for Norwich City’s charity partner, collecting funds and raising awareness for the appeal, along with the Canaries players who wore Sporting Light Appeal t-shirts for their warm up before the game.

The t-shirts have been signed and fans now have the chance to bid for them from on the club’s eBay store - which can be accessed through www.canaries.co.uk - with profits going towards the Sporting Light Appeal.

Before the ground collection on Sunday, the volunteers also observed a Down’s Syndrome football session at CSF’s Carrow Park facility; just one of the disability programmes to benefit from the money raised by the Sporting Light Appeal.

Community and business champions who have taken part in CSF fundraising events were then presented to the crowd at half-time with CSF ambassador, and former City player, Paul McVeigh.

The appeal raises money to enable CSF to continue with the delivery of services across Norfolk.

If you would like to help the appeal, contact Emma Fletcher at the CSF office on 01603 761122 or emma.fletcher@ncfc-canaries.co.uk
