Gary Setchell hailed Shane Tolley’s ‘Premier League’ finishing after his late winner helped Lynn edge out one of their promotion rivals at The Walks.

Lynn came from behind to beat Stamford yesterday thanks to a brace from goal-machine striker Tolley who has already bagged four goals in just three Linnets appearances.

The frontman, nicknamed Custard, bagged a sweet 87th-minute clincher when he controlled Jason Lee’s ball as it dropped over his shoulder and slotted home in almost one movement to leave Setchell purring.

The Lynn boss said: “Dunks has got a reputation for himself, as has Spriggsy, because they’ve been our most potent attacking weapons all season. Tolley’s probably going a little bit under the radar at the minute.

“The Northern League probably doesn’t know loads about him and obviously Dunkley gets special treatment. People double up on him so that gives Tolley a little bit more room for manoeuvre.

“Tolley’s first finish, he was in the right place at the right time, but his second was absolutely outstanding. If a Premier League player did that they’d be raving about it on Match of The Day. His touch, finish and awareness was, and is, absolutely superb and that’s what we brought him to the club for.

“The chances the lad gets through his movement – he’s like a kid in the playground playing football. He just wants to score a goal.

“But it wasn’t about Shane Tolley. It was about the whole team. Everyone. (Dan) Quigley was immense first half, different class. All of them. Every single one of them put a shift in for us again.”

The New Year’s Day triumph strengthened Lynn’s 2013 Evo-Stik Division One South play-off push as Setchell’s troops, fourth, moved to within four points of Stamford, now third, having played one game less.

And they had to come from behind to pick up the three points after Adrian Hall’s 47th-minute opener had looked set to stretch Lynn’s winless run in the league to six matches.
