Both Mark Scott and Gary Setchell are crossing their fingers that the weather improves so Thetford Town can play King’s Lynn Town tomorrow.

The Norfolk Senior Cup fourth round clash between the two sides, scheduled for last night, was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Now, the non-league managers hope to be able to get the county cup match played at Munford Road in little more than 24 hours time.

Thetford boss Scott said: “We desperately, desperately, wanted it to go ahead last night as we haven’t played for a bit and Lynn are a big club.

“We tried to do everything we could to get the game on. In the morning it didn’t look too bad and we just hoped the rain stayed away. Unfortunately it didn’t and we had to make a decision we didn’t want to make.

“Hopefully, looking at the forecast, there’ll be enough time for the pitch to dry out. Our players are used to playing or training on a Tuesday and Thursday so it shouldn’t cause too much of a problem for us.”

Lynn manager Gary Setchell - whose side play one level higher than the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Brecklanders who lost to Gorleston in last season’s Senior Cup final - is equally desperate to get the game played.

Influential pair, defender Phil Gulliver and central-midfielder skipper Richard Bunting, can get their one-game suspensions out of the way and be available for Saturday’s Evo-Stik Division One South trip to Leek Town if tomorrow’s tie goes ahead.

Setchell said: “We’ll have to put out a different side than what I was going to but we’ll have to take it on the chin. If it gets called off again tomorrow I’m fairly sure we’ll have to play it on Saturday, which I hope doesn’t happen. We don’t want it to interrupt our league programme.”

Entry for the game, set to kick off at 7.45pm, will cost adults £5 and concessions £3.
