The Anglian Combination league has received a boost after the FA confirmed that its Step Seven status remains intact.

The league had been warned by the FA that its Step Seven status and the funding it attracts would be removed unless at least 75 per cent of the Premier Division clubs brought their shower, toilets and changing facilities up to pre-determined standards.

But a concerted drive over the past few months has seen all clubs complying with the new demands, despite a tight timescale and bills of several thousand pounds in many cases, although grants helped to offset some of the costs.

“We are delighted that we have got our full status,” said league secretary Keith Johnson.

“The fact that we got 100 per cent is a credit to all the clubs in the Premier Division.

“Our gratitude is extended to Norfolk FA and their officers in particular Gavin Lemmon, who assisted in obtaining funding and gave advice on getting things up to standard.”
