Dereham gained three more Thurlow Nunn Premier League points with a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Aldiss Park.
Luke Tuttle started for the Magpies after completing his three match suspension with Shaun Bammant unavailable. The home side made a confident start with Craig Bussens delivering a testing cross. Scott Sutherland-Gray then combined well with Tuttle before dragging the ball wide when well placed.
After surviving Dereham’s initial pressure Brantham won a fruitless corner and the home side continued to search for the opener. Following a drinks break on a baking hot day Adam Gusterson came within inches of heading home a Gary Starling corner from the right in the 31st minute.
Two further crosses failed to be converted before the Magpies deservedly took the lead in the 39th minute. Luke Tuttle fed Ollie Willis down the right and the full back found Nicky Howell with a low cross who swept the ball home from 14 yards in fine style.
The Essex side won two flag kicks in an effort to draw level before the break but Dereham enjoyed a half-time lead. Matt Howard had a close range effort charged down from a corner soon after the restart. Young home keeper Andy Wilton claimed a cross shot well near his goal line.
Dereham gained a penalty in the 54th minute when Kieron Lawler handled Tuttle’s shot after Howell had won the ball well. Gary Starling sent Ryan Bedingfield the wrong way from the spot to increase his side’s lead. Minutes later Scott Roberts diverted a deep Craig Bussen’s centre over the top with Dereham now well on top.
In the 77th minute they put the result beyond doubt with a superb individual goal from Luke Tuttle. After receiving a long ball out of defence the striker made good ground before weaving inside two defenders and cracking home a low 20 yarder.
