It was the battle of the top two in Division 2A, the leaders Riverside Rovers met the Mad Moose on their home ground.
As the whistle went it was Riverside who appeared the stronger side as they mounted early pressure on the Mad Moose defence.
It was the Mad Moose who got the first goal though when the Riverside keeper was unable to clear his lines, the clearance fell to Richie Powell who volleyed the ball in from distance to make it 1-0 to Mad Moose.
Just five minutes later Richie Powell got his second of the game, and season, with an deft lob into the top corner.
A soft free kick given away on the edge of the box gave Riverside an opportunity to get back into the game, and that they did as Roy Bevis struck a low shot into the bottom left corner of the goal bringing it back to 2-1.
The Moose extended their lead when Darren Hills regained possession for the Moose and played a ball to the far post, where Bram Goodwin-Wright calmly placed the ball into the oncoming Ben Burgess to fire home and regain the two goal lead for the Moose.
There was still time in the first half for another, and this came to the Mad Moose, when Darren Hills rounded the keeper and hit home to make it 4-1.
The half-time whistle was blown and although the Mad Moose had a three-goal lead the game certainly wasn’t over.
Just three minutes into the second half Riverside pulled another back as Roy Bevis won and converted a penalty to make it 4-2.
From this point the game became increasingly open with chance after chance at both ends.
It was the Moose who scored next, when Darren Hills curled a sublime free kick into the top corner from 30 yards.
Mad Moose were confident they could hold onto their lead with just 25 minutes to go, however Riverside Rovers continued to mount pressure on the Mad Moose goal, creating several chances that the Moose managed to clear their lines.
It took some good work from Riverside to score next when the ball fell to Sutherland-Grey who hit home to claw one back for Riverside. 5-3.
With just ten minutes to go Riverside got the next goal when Charlton Halliday lobbed the Moose keeper to make it 5-4.
The next five minutes were the Mad Moose who held a majority of possession however when Riverside found themselves in the Moose box they looked threatening. The Riverside right back found himself in the box with two players to beat only to be taken down by the Moose centre back giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot for the second time in the game. Roy Bevis stepped up and placed the ball calmly to equalise and make it 5-5.
In the dying moment of the game, as it appeared to all be over, a winner came, when Riverside again found themselves to the right of the box, squaring the ball to an oncoming Roy Bevis who smashed the ball home to make it 6-5 and snatch all three points from a wounded Mad Moose.
