Riverside reached the Norfolk Primary Cup Final after a sensational 3-2 victory over William Burt on Saturday.
Mark Demonty’s header gave the hosts a 1-0 lead. An own goal increased Riverside’s advantage before Shane Crown gave fellow North West Norfolk League side Burt hope. However, Dean Symonds restored his side’s two-goal advantage, and even though a Danny Littlewood penalty set up a tense finish, Riverside hung on to clinch the win. Gayton United Reserved missed the chance to make it an all NWNL final losing 2-0 at Scarning. In the Junior Cup semis, Great Massingham went down 1-0 at Catfield.
In league action, sponsored by Seddon, Division One leaders Gayton triumphed 5-1 at West Winch while a Simon Bush brace helped Lynn North End, second, beat Ingoldisthorpe 2-1.
Goals from Ben Young and Alex Oughton, plus a double-penalty save from substitute ‘keeper Craig Blackshields, helped Denver secure a vital win at Division Two relegation rivals Flitcham & Hillington. Matthew Wolfe was the victors’ Morris Armitage/PKS Construction man of the match. Leaders Castle Rising lost for the first time in the league since November, 2-0 at Lynn Napier.
In Division Three, strikes from Paul Abbott, Jay Branham and Steven Hornigold helped Lynn Williams, whose man of the match was Jason Staines, beat Greyfriars 3-0. Man of the match George Brotherton’s goal wasn’t enough to prevent Docking losing 2-1 to Snettisham in Division Four. Tilney won 3-0 at South Creake Reserves. Paul Henry, Grant Varnham and Ben Halliday scored, Luke Girling was man of the match. Elsewhere, Aaron Marshall’s treble inspired Watlington Reserves to a 3-1 win against Pentney.
