Norwich City have confirmed Dutch winger Yanic Wildschut has joined Championship promotion-chasers Cardiff on loan for the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old winger has made just 13 league starts for the Canaries since joining from Wigan in the same window last year, in a move that cost closer to £4m than the £7m originally circulated.
With limited involvement since the summer arrival of head coach Daniel Farke, Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock has swooped to boost his attacking options by signing the former Heerenveen and Middlesbrough forward on loan for the rest of this season – with Yanic Wildschut’s loan move from Norwich City to Cardiff broken exclusively by us on Thursday.
There is a possibility of the move becoming permanent in the summer, although that depends on various clauses being met between now and the end of the season.
Wildschut still has 18 months left of the initial contract he signed last January, having made 29 appearances and scored two goals.
He bagged the winner in City’s acrimonious 1-0 victory at Sheffield United back in September, with the Blades due at Carrow Road next Saturday.
His first goal came in the 1-1 draw at Bristol City last March – Alex Neil’s last game as boss and where Norwich head this weekend.
City have actually lost just five of the 20 games in which Wildschut has appeared this term.
Wildschut is likely to be the first of two January transfer window exits today, with Norwich City forward Alex Pritchard’s £12m move to Premier League Huddersfield also expected to be confirmed ahead of the weekend.
