Chief executive David McNally has rubbished reports Norwich City tried to sign convicted rapist Ilombe Mboyo during the January transfer window.

To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.

The Sunday People claimed that City failed in a bid to sign the Belgian 25-year-old KAA Gent striker, who served three years of an eight-year sentence for the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Brussells.

But when quizzed by a fan about the report, McNally responded: “We did not make any bid for this player in January.”

The People also suggested Norwich manager Chris Hughton will make a third attempt to sign Blackburn Rovers’ Martin Olsson in the summer.

• Norwich City youngster Declan Rudd watched from the bench as League One strugglers Preston lost 2-1 at home to Shrewsbury.

The 22-year-old will spend the rest of the season with North End to get game time, and saw a first-half lead turned on its head as Thorsten Stuckman was beaten by the Shrews’ last-minute penalty.

  • It's such a shame that they think making disgusting comments like that (not talking about article but the troll comment) is in any way interesting or even acceptable. An in depth review of policy would be welcome.

  • Doc (and others), all at Archant are so scared of losing their jobs they'd testify on behalf of Mussolini's good character at NMC if Pickover told them to. Archant is a monopoly in the Eastern Counties so can be as poor as it likes. Which has been pony and trap for a long, long time.

  • It arrived in the end, blackdog2. baguio has reiterated how to avoid multiple postings, but when I`ve tried that the b****y thing disappears forever! I dread to think how dire Stooge`s deleted posting must have been if even his colleagues at Ar-chant deemed it OTT. Retrospectively.

  • Sensationalism is the word for this rubbish which is an attempt to sell papers and why on earth do Archant constantly recycle other papers idiotic articles! Ccan they write anything of their own? I often wonder because apart from the recycling game we have to have the same articles appear day after day. The idiot Ged who periodically crawls out from under his stone is in dire need of getting a life, sitting daiy as he does waiting to post yet another portion of childish stupid bile that people see for what it is and laugh at the fool. If as a few seem to believe he is an Archant plant doesn't that make the whole thing even more of a farce!

  • I often wonder if Archant think having their staff trolls make the site more vibrant and interesting, if that's the case I can assure them they don't. Having some staff idiot accusing the club of this action has impressed me, I never thought they could plumb such depths. I'm almost thempted to use the term that some Norwich fans use for Ipswich supporters.

Can`t see anybody at Carra Rud getting involved with that, certainly not Saint Delia! Yet here it is again, scraped up and smeared onto an EDP page to feed the Archplant, Stooge.
