Leroy Fer is pictured in Carrow Road's Yellows restaurant on Wednesday.

Archant

Reports in the Netherlands have suggested FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer is currently in Norwich for a medical, ahead of signing a five-year deal at Carrow Road.

The 23-year-old’s current club are believed to have accepted an offer of somewhere between 5m-8m euros for the Dutch international, with part of that amount due to his former club Rotterdam.

Fer came close to joining Everton in January, only for a failed medical to be blamed for the deal falling through. It is believed the Toffees’ interest has waned since then.

Fer is entering the final year of his FC Twente contract, although there is the option of an extra year on top.

A picture of Fer at Carrow Road’s Yellows restaurant circulated the internet during Wednesday.

• Well what kind of number 10 are you expecting, Steady? Someone technical like Hoolahan or power like Toivonen, very different players. And yes we will play 4-5-1 for the majority and pattern the midfield but we also played 4-4-2 and with the loss of a few strikers I anticipate a bid for someone like Hooper. I seem to remember ending a lot of games 4-4-2 last season when games weren't going to plan.

• Wanted to post this before i have work to do. Just got the news that Toby Alderweireld said no to Norwich City. He likes the club and their plans but it's a personal thing said his manager Soren Lerby. The other news in the same article says that Leroy Fer came through his medical. In a few hours or days he is a Norwich City player. Great news. Can't wait.

• This all looks like smart usiness by Hoots - Fer & Olsson look a good fit. Reports abound that we are also looking at Toby Alderweireld of Ajax & Hooper of Celtic. Could be some good aquisitions here - a big step up on those realeased players I'd say !

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Fer should be a superb signing. Having said that I do hope we still get a decent attacking midfielder otherwise I think we will see a repeat of last seasons defensive tactics, just with better players.

Thursday, July 11, 2013

• I hope we can get this player - he looks first class and just the player we need in midfield. He could prove as important as RVW. I would also like to see the Dutch centre back signed to complete an awesome spine through the middle of our team and with Ruddy in goal it certainly has a solid look to it.

• Brew - the lines I liked from Eve of would be :- Hate your next door neighbour But don't forget to say grace It was written by PJ Sloan who was strangely the subject of a song by Rumer recently. It was supposedly to have been the debut song for the Mamas and the Papas but they had a late change of mind.

• Olson is a left back but can provide functionality across defence and into midfield. Effectively a left footed r.martin. Leroy fer is something else. A grade above what we have in central midfield and a player I'm very excited about. He's a defensive midfielder but can get involved with attacks and links defence and attack superbly while having an amazing physical presence and ability to retain and regain possession. Van wolfswinkel and leroy fer in the same team will be a huge thing, have no doubts.

• We'll get a number 10 and play 4-5-1. It's what everyone is playing these days.

• CanaryWest - OK I though we had lost about 7" of height there !! If we accept that Holty was a bit of lone figure up front for much of last season - we haven't lost anyone else who was significant in gaining 11th place in the PL. If we also accept that (in most cases) the dozen or so players who were released weren't really up to the mark - what is coming in - by comparison looks like absolute class ! RVW, Garrido, Redmond, Olsson all signed. Fer is being lined up now and Alderweireld + Hooper are still in the mix. Can someone please tell Hoots that Benteke wants away from Vanilla ?

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Don't you Raus me Brewer! I don't do 'Fila' either! Can't find anything anywhere re Fer medical. I hope I've had no small part in Divot's demotion (take that sentence literally if you want to).

• I had a feeling you'd mention the backslashes MB. Hahaha, I remember throwing that one out there a year ago when you were having a similar problem... To think you jumped on the bandwagon when someone labelled me that days Steady On alternate ego. LOL. I am definitely a S\O sympathiser, but, also a Brewer fan. Oh to be torn so! Loving the new signings, I am placing three $2 bets on Norwich finishing top 10, top 6 and champions. Win the league and they all come in. :) Odds are deliciously tempting. Thursday, July 11, 2013 • Nie probleem, Antoine. I did refer to Demba Ba & Grant Holt as "beasts" recently! Was that it? Its great to hear positive things said about our new signings, by people whove actually seen them in action. To me, Fers record is very impressive and I really hope I get to see him too. The EPL is a big draw in the USA, so Norwich are clever to court that market for new fans abroad with all the potential merchandising and image rights stuff that goes with it. Our CEO is a very canny man. I just pray we dont become the 7th Premiership Club to be acquired by an American owner. A bit Luddite, I admit, but Im a "Little Norwicher"! Saturday, July 13, 2013 • Goedemorgen, Antoine. My attempted reply disappeared into the ether. I think Norwich fans would have liked to see Fer unfurled in Norwich. I think they would also like to know whats going on. Still, theres a big untapped market over in the USA.... Saturday, July 13, 2013 • Just heard the news that if everything goes well today Leroy Fer will get on the plane on monday with Norwich City and fly to the USA. Norwich will present him not this weekend but in San Fransisco or Sacramento. The news is that it's the biggest investment for Norwich City in history. They talk about 30 million euro's for Ricky and Leroy Fer. 15 million transfermoney and 15 million euro's salary. Fer will sign a contract till 2018. In 2010 i was in Norwich for a period and fell in love with the city and the club. And it's growing stronger every day. Norwich bought some great players and it will be a great season. I think it will attract people from Holland to come over for a few days and see Norwich play. It's only a 40 minute flight from Amsterdam. They need a bigger stadium cause it's almost always sold out. Saturday, July 13, 2013 • As many of you say, the squad is now looking quiet strong but I would like to see at least one if not two strikers extra although it is possible that Redmond could play an attacking role and young Morris looked promising in th youth cup final so may be able to act as a back up from time to time. Overall last years team looked very good especially when all were fully fit for the last couple of games. Can't wait for the season to get under way to see the new boys in action. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Not convinced the club should need to be taking risks with buying semi-injured players these days. As the saying goes, there are plenty more fish in the sea. Likewise, I think we now have enough good defenders in the squad, Bennet for example had some great performances at the end of the season and for me, looked better than Turner as he has more pace to recover, so complimented Bassong very well. Given that Martin can also play centre back we have competition for places, do we really need more cover. I would much rather see a couple of promising young forwards coming in or one proven and one gamble so to speak. Friday, July 12, 2013 • Ellie, somewhere I read that somebody has seen Fer already down as a City player on Wikipedia. My Wiki must need winding up cos it still has him @ FC Twente. If that is a Faux Fer, theyve shown some attention to detail in the prominent silver cross\crucifix dangling from his neck (it seems hes a devout RC, already). Aaah, alan n Steely, Leonard Cohen - theres cheerful! We could adopt Hallelujah as our Club song when the squad is completed? Thursday, July 11, 2013 • Sounds like ferkin brilliant news to me. LittleYellowBirdie, do broadly agree with your line up assessment - things are looking pretty good, But worry that you needed to go 4-4-1-1 to make it work. Definitely hoping to see another striker or no 10 come in, preferably not Toivonen. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Yes, back on topic - LYB, I think you may be right on that formation, but well need more than just the two strikers on the books, wont we? Maybe just one more? Time will tell. Oops! You said that already! I concur.... Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Leonard Cohen, what a poet. Apparently you can often hear one of the posters on this site serenading Hoots with LC's "I'm your man" and "Dance me to the end of love". Nice songs though. Thursday, July 11, 2013 • Antoine, your English is 1,000 times better than my Dutch! Saturday, July 13, 2013 • TK, I looked up Olsson on Wiki last week and it seems he is a left-sided CB who also plays LB. OR a LB who can play as a left-sided CB! A bit like Russ @ RB or R-CB. Solid signing if it happens & will greatly underpin the defensive resources. I really know nothing about Leroy Fer. As you say, TK, if these two happen it just leaves the paucity of striking options to resolve. Then there is the need to replace the back-room staff that "defected" to Villa? (Divot-Speak). :-)) Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • I am sorry Mad Brewer. It must have been someone else who used the words wild beast last week. But there is a bit of truth in it. Maybe it's better to call him a strong lion. That's how he walks and runs. By the way, if Norwich presents Fer in the US i think they will do it again in Norwich too. Saturday, July 13, 2013 • Don't know how that happened, sorry. Thursday, July 11, 2013 • Transfer rumours - for what worth - suggest that there might one or two more signings to come so patience is needed. Another defender and attacker or two plus perhaps Toivenen are rumoured. Has anyone looked at the NCFC website recently, apart from MB? It lists 20 players, no Ayala or Rudd and has yet to include our other two recent signings. One can also only speculate what is the future for Surman, Fox and Barnett, all of whom are on the list? With one or two exceptions perhaps, it seems to me that CH is doing a good job in taking the team forward. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Leonard Cohen, what a poet. Apparently you can often hear one of the posters on this site serenading Hoots with LC's "I'm your man" and "Dance me to the end of love". Nice songs though. Thursday, July 11, 2013 • So he is a wildebeest, or a gnu. plural is gnus [ pronounced news] and if I have 3 gnus and shoot them can I say that is the end of the gnus now for the weather forecast. Saturday, July 13, 2013 • I already said most of that Left\Right, Olsson\Martin stuff on THIS board too - using much simpler language, of course. SO, S\O is my secret sycophant! Heaven! Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Tried to continue our chat, AJ - repeatedly "ethered". Saturday, July 13, 2013 • I hope that the knee has settled down and that he does come. I like the sound of AntoineJohn's assessment of him. Ollsen is a good signing. I have seen him play for Blackburn and he is QUICK. Adding pace to our defence is a must as it has been a weakness since being in the Prem, and with him we have done that. If Fer does come, then I would be happy with what we have once we add another striker to the mix. As for the discussion around tactics, last season we struggled for goals because we lacked someone who could take the ball of the defence and distribute it effectively. We also lacked pace in our forward line to be able to launch quality counter attacks. Hopefully, the new signings will change all that:-) Thursday, July 11, 2013 • Juist, Antoine - I cant remember reFERring to Fer as a "wild beast", though, AJ! I just feel its a shame the citizens of San Francisco or Sacramento get to see our potential new hero before the citizens of Sprowston and Spixworth do! Ive already mentioned the fact that Leroy Fer played 81 games in the last 2 seasons, so he doesnt appear to have a fitness problem in practice. I suppose its the prognosis that matters? Ie. is there a serious risk of imminent deterioration of his condition? He does indeed look a prachtig player. Maar een wildebeest?? ;-) Saturday, July 13, 2013 • Does anyone know anything about this Dame N'Doye we're being linked with? Ola Toivonen and Hooper are taking too long to make up their minds so best we look elsewhere. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Gotta agree with Steady On here, glass looking more than half full :-) Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • I agree. Just wondered. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Steely, I cant imagine Mamma Cass singing that - or Karen Carpenter! McGuire had a rasping voice, he sort of growled out the lyrics. It was a bit like a more pungent take on "I love this Town" by Joni Mitchell (I think...)...all the hypocrisy stuff. Protest songs werea must in those days. Even Roy Orbison kind of did one: "There wont be many coming home". Intended for his awful film "The Fastest Guitar Alive" but deemed to serious for the soundtrack. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Was talking to an Evertonian over the last few days, specifically regarding Redmond and Fer, apparently the medical was a knee thing, I also heard that and (as far as I know) can confirm PAG's post. Thursday, July 11, 2013 • Steely, HHA:- "Someone has invented ways of wrapping brains in metal trays to keep them from the heat....". BMcG:- " even the Jordan River has bodies floatin, yet you tell me over and over and over again, were not on the Eve of Destruction". (Approx). Happy Days! Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • I hope thats not true, Willem; it would be mega-duplicitous to blame a breakdown in negotiations on medical reasons (unless it was true). This week, Hull have allegedly pulled out of the Charlie Austin deal for that reason. We are heading for total football now - the 1-10 formation! Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • CanaryWest, I think you'll find that Fer is 6'2" and plays in Central Midfield. This will be a great signing as well. Looks like Hoots is bringing some real pedigree into the side with these new players - it really shows ambition ! Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • I think we'll get hooper and probably a number 10 toivonen. Type and then we're ready to go. Hope all the pant wetting over ruddy was worth it btw guys, just try not to cry so much wen Nash joins, it's a sensible signing and makes sense and you know it. Our goalkeeping situation is very healthy. Just imagine next year if Chelsea come back in for ruddy with 15-20m on the table and we have a new and I proved Rudd waiting to take the job on. Rudd is good enough and after this year of growth will prove it. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • You have my sympathy Scrimmage. I too find some of Steady On's comments quite interesting. Then he seems to find it all too much and becomes a complete K*!b when somebody has an opinion different from his. Thursday, July 11, 2013 • Swiss, Hedgehoppers Anonymous, circa 1966; "Good News Week". Wednesday, July 10, 2013 • Rumours elsewhere that there IS a problem with the medical. I hope it is just that - a rumour. Rumours can be promulgated for various reasons, ranging from genuine concern to malicious mischief-making. This guy seems to play OK for his current club etc..... Friday, July 12, 2013 • ... or even friets! Saturday, July 13, 2013 • Antoine, goedemorgen. I think most Norwich fans would be happier if Fer were "unveiled" in Norwich. As it is, its all gone quiet and fans are wondering what is going on. I suppose the sub-plot is the continued courtship of the American market, following the Kei Kamara project? A huge market for (HUGE) replica shirts over there..... I think US citizens are beginning to really buy into "soccer", specially as their National Team acquits itself quite well these days. Theyve had working visits from a few Deities like Beckham too, which helps. Saturday, July 13, 2013 • Yes, Victor, the Dutch have provided some great football over the years. There was a thuggish interlude a while back. Cannot remember whether it was World Cup or European. Completely "non-Dutch" behaviour. Was it vs Brazil in a World Cup? Or Italy in a EuroCup?? Or neither??? Senility advancing in a menacing way! I have a sort of soft spot for things Dutch, probably stemming from a school trip to Amsterdam 51 years ago. Im still puzzled about those ladies sitting in rosily-lit shop windows..... and mayo with frites... and policemen with guns & spliffs! Saturday, July 13, 2013 • I think we are equally in awe of the charlatan called Divot, el dingo. Lovely word, charlatan - (one you selected). Ancient roots; basically "con-man". Spot on. I suppose these days, buII$hitt€r is the word?

• Seems like the Toby Alderweireld deal might be off. Goal.com reports this afternoon that he is now happy to stay at Ajax, even though he has one year remaining on his contract.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• What a great day! Toivonen will not come to Norwich. His character is so different that he would have a fight with his new teammates after three days. I hope Leroy Fer will sign today for Norwich. He will love the city, his teammates and the fans. And i can promise you, he will fight for Norwich City everytime he plays. And when he attacks and comes to the front the other team needs 2 or 3 defenders to stop him. He is fast, very strong and reads the game. With Ricky and Fer Norwich will be stronger than last year.

Thursday, July 11, 2013

• I like the way things are shaping up and I pretty much agree with peoples comments about additional strengthening. Of course we're all keeping an eye on the number of players we can register for the PL (25) but Mr Redmond doesn't qualify because he's under 21 and then there's all that wonderful youth talent - they don't count either! And I'd really like to see one or two of those guys getting a chance to play a game or two - even if it's in a cup tie.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Goedemorgen, Scrimmage. In another posting, I did specifically credit you with my education in the field of slash technology! A whole year - just shows that, despite your other heros insinuations, I am not senile yet. Btw, my Wikis catching up a bit - the headliner descibes Fer as a NCFC player, while the body of the text still has him down as FC Twente. Scrimmage, did I really suspect you were a S\O alter-ego? I seem to remember you wrote sensible stuff. Perhaps I AM going senile!

Thursday, July 11, 2013

• Agreed. Somehow I feel that even if we do get Hooper up front we are still a bit short up front as he may not be as good as some think.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• I will say this politely in the hope I dont upset the boards regulars....Olsson is also a great signing. However if any of you think he can play CB you are sadly misinformed. He is only 5 foot 7, basically around the size of Wes Hoolahan, so if we ever see him at CB we are in real trouble. He is a left back and at a push left midfielder (could signal the end of Surman??)

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• You are right PAG, Simeon Jackson has gone to Eintracht Brauschweig. They have just been promoted back to 2. Bundesliga, an old and once great club that nearly fell apart completely. I hope that he can do for them what he did for us in securing promotion. Braunschweig (Brunswick) is a pretty nice place.

• I think people might be confusing Olssons, as the one at West Brom can play LB or CB. I'm not sure about Olsson's versatility through the middle but I know he's a left sided player, mainly LB and sometimes LM, we have a new king of spain?! Brewer, odd one that whole medical business, there are claims that personal terms were proving difficult so they put it down to a failed medical. Doesn't surprise me with hungry agents flying about in the modern game. Ah well, let's hope for a 'fer' and reasonable deal!

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Steady On, I've assumed the Toivonen deal is off now, and the fee agreed was for if he was training with the youths as they threatened. I suspect they'll all make happy families and he'll sign a new deal. We're probably going to reignite our interest in Hooper for when we play 442.

• We have a natural affinity for the Dutch in these parts, Antoine. They brought us hops, drained our fenlands and taught us how to market garden. We also adopted Derek Niven van den Bogaerde as one of our own. I resided in a little Suffolk village where the local café\restaurant was taken over by a young couple of Dutch\East Indies descent. Lovely folk, and it inspired me to try to learn a little Dutch. They kindly advised me to stick to English! Their 6-year old daughter spoke and wrote better English than we locals!

Saturday, July 13, 2013

• I don't think there is too much to worry about with regards to Leroy. It's more than likely that the club are checking his medical history just to be sure! And like everyone else, I am in dreamland with all these big names linked and more than likely to join the club. Incredible isn't the word!! Hope you guys are brushing up on your pronunciation skills what with Van Wolfswinkle, Alderweireld, Quagliarella and the latest I've heard is Konoployanka. Try saying that all at once. But really this is just amazing transfer activity by the club. Talk about showing intent. Brilliant work by Hoots and McNally. otbc

• Things are looking good though the best news today was hearing the Schwarzer was on his way to Chelsea. Ruddy is so important to us. Just a bit worried though that we could end up with a forward line which, although exciting, have no experience of the Premier League. Anyone else think this is a concern?

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• I said all that Ruddy\Rudd stuff on another board. SO I agree with S\O. Unlikely he would agree with me, or anybody else, bar his own echo & reflection. Noisy Narcissus. If Ruddy had left now, not so healthy. All I need now is a few lessons in Advanced Abuse and I can become S\Os flagorneur.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Brew - will have to be a bit careful as that awful Canary West is on the prowl looking for sycophancy. So just for the sake of it Fer will be brilliant and I have seen him play a thousand times. In fact like everyone else I have never heard of him. Going back to more important things. I think at one time Barry McGuire was going to be in the Mamas and Papas and this was going to be their first release. He was a one hit wonder although I did know someone who bought his LP which I think was called Eve of Destruction, surprisingly.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• I must admit that Schwarzer news was great. It may only delay the inevitable, who knows? But keeping JR at least for this season is so important. "Old Boy Watch":- Cody McDonald has joined Gillingham. He liked it there when he was on loan from us, as part of the Simeon Jackson deal. Top-scored there and made no secret of the fact he wanted to stay, but the Gills didnt have the cash, apparently. Now he has his wish; hes only 27 and could have a good career in L1. Gillingham finally got their man for free! Things have changed a lot in 4 years!

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Have to agree TrevorK. It is not the risk of early retirement but how can you play a settled team if your main midfield player only manages 25 out of 38 games? Beginning to sound like Gerry Howshall.

Friday, July 12, 2013

• If we sign leroy fer wacky tobacky is going to lose it. He does not like the idea of us buying good players. He's probably still trying to compute the fact our strong board has held onto ruddy against big spenders Chelsea and the fact chris Hughton is the direct reason nathan Redmond has signed for us. Maybe he's still asking who will be brought in to replace holt, maybe someone should jntroduce him to van wolfswinkel? Because he's either so senile that he's forgotten we've signed a Dutch international striker or he's blocking it out from his mind. But of course, everything is going to pot because lambert took our conditioning coach. Pick your side guys, the "we are improving the squad and will be strong next year with a good brand of football" side or the "urine soaked tin foil hat and pants" brigade

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• If Fer joins then we are showing serious ambition and growth. Of course it's sad to see the likes of Grant Holt leave but with the addition of players of Fer's and RVW's ability, we will get by just fine. However we need to keep this ambition going by: a. Actually complete this Fer deal. b. Keep looking at the bigger players and c. Keep hold of our own big guns, such as Ruddy and Pilkington who I'm sure will attract interest this summer. Maybe BJ will be looked at too given the Swansea speculation previously.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• On a more serious note, it looks as if Hoots is recruiting personnal for a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-5-1 formation both of which demand more pace than we had last season and midfield players who can finish. It will be interesting to see if there will be a more attacking option when teams come to Carra Rd to defend a point. Let's go maniac.

• Hi Mad Brewer, i can understand that it's much more exciting to see Leroy Fer presented in Norwich. But it took a while because of his knee problems in the past. If Fer is on the plane to the USA on monday i think they don't look back anymore but to the future. And what a great player he is. Like you said: a wild beast. But a great one. It will be a nightmare for defenders. If he attacks it's like if steam is coming out of his nose and his ears. It's very powerful. For the fans it will be so exciting.

• Does anyone know what the problem was with Everton

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Great news to see another midfielder coming in and I hope Olsson is a left back rather than another centre back. Still desperately want to see a couple of strikers in quickly though.

• I agree, MB. And yes the Charlie Austin one also surprised me, maybe the same could be said for the George Boyd transfer which was cancelled to Forest over failing the 'eyesight part of the medical' only to then go on and sign for Peterborough? Meh perhaps I'm out of my depth speaking about these things, lots of unknowns!

• Great news if this happens. Fer has great potential although I am surprised he failed a medical at Everton. I hope the reasons weren't too serious and are likely to reoccur. We need 2 quality forwards to provide competition up front. Possibly another quality central midfielder and centre back? Does anyone know if any of the youth team have gone on the pre-season trip?

• .... 81 games in the last 2 seasons, according to Wikipedia. Thats not the performance of a "crock", surely? Weve got worse "Sicknotes" than that already!

• LYB, youre not trying forwardslashes are you? They never work on these boards but back\slashes do! Perhaps its to stop people using links or something?? Steely, NOT Joni Mitchell, Nancy Griffith!

• That's why you often start with the words "goedemorgen" . They teached you some dutch words. They gave you good advice afterwards. Haha! I do my best to read most of the comments on this site but sometimes it's hard to follow it. But it's a good lesson for me to read it. My English is very simple but as long as you understand it it's okay. Good to hear your story about your contact with the dutch people.

• Both my knees were crocked playing rugby 25 years ago and I have just emerged from hospital following my 4th knee operation. Knees can be cleaned up, repaired and replaced but never completely "fixed". Many players have replacement ACLs. As Antoine says, any damage will show up on an MRI. Players often have extensive surgeries that will keep them going into their 30s even though they will pay for it later with arthritis and other complications. However, damaged parts are often more likely to suffer further damage and so it all comes down to how much discount do you get for damaged goods. That is what takes the time.

• Two questions: 1) can anyone confirm this chap is actually who we hope it is and the picture is not of someone from down the road pulling our chain? 2) If it is Fer, could a club with Delia in the hot seat not do a bit better than a meal in Yellows to tempt him? Hopefully Delia took over the hot plate for the day and RVW brought over the cheese board with plenty of Edam.

• Alderweireld too?? Our cup would runneth over! These players need to average out the number of letters in their surnames; we have van Wolfswinkel (14) down to Fer (3). I suppose the "van" is only a Tussenvoegsel, though? ;-)) I hope that knee thing is not a hindrance. El dingo, I have heard from someone in the "Big Know" that Divot has lost his Three Star "Insider" status and has been semi-peripheralised. Sorry to see that youve become a Paddy Detractor. Dass ist verboten! el dingo, Raus! :-))

• Thank you Antoine John for keeping us in the picture regarding Fer. He's going to be a great player for us and together with RVW will be a significant influence on our football style. In the seventies our neighbours introduced a couple of Dutchmen into their side and they transformed the team into one of the best in England. I think our two will transform City into a more attacking side scoring more goals.

• BREWSTERn STEELY... The title eve of destruction sounded intrigued so Dloaded, and like it,BUT it suggested I also might a song called the stranger song, which also sounded interesting, and wow that guys voice! Gonna look for similar from him... By way the signings ....HAPPY HAPPY HAAPY!!! But however good fer is, no one NO ONE is a cut above SNODDY!

• .....and now 6 Premiership Clubs are owned by Americans......

• These would be two great signings - Fer looks a great player and ideal fit for our team, Olsen too is a good player. I hope to see them get in Alderweirald and another striker Doye looks a decent player but overpriced if they are asking £10 million. I still think Hooper would be a different striker and offer contrast to RVW. I watched some tapes of RVW yesterday and he seems particularly good at finding space in the box and finishing. I didn't see much evidence of him being a target man whereas Hooper is. I think Hollahan would have a field day feeding RVW. It looks as if our expectations for squad building are about to bare fruit. I feel guilty about my up to now impatience. OTBC.

• Leroy Fer has a knee problem from an injury in the past. They can see that on a scan. That is why Everton withdrew a few months ago when they wanted to buy him. But he plays better than ever. This morning the dutch newspapers said that Norwich had an agreement with Ajax for Toby Alderweireld. And that it's up to Toby now. Great defender, shy guy, is from Belgium and plays for the national team. Is very respected by the Ajax fans and other football fans in Holland. Plays like his best friend Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham Hotspur). The same style. Will be great for Norwich if Toby decides to come. Can you imagine Alderweireld, Bassong, Turner and Martin playing together? Will be great.

• Brewer, thanks for the update on McDonald. Even though he didnt quite make the grade I always liked him as a player. Good luck to him with his move. When you compare signings like Cody McDonald and Olly Johnson from the 2009\10 season to current signings, it really brings home how far the club has come in the last 4 years doesnt it?

• Oct Nov 1965 Brew. Produced by Jonathan King. Charted at the same time as Barry Maguire 'Eve of Destruction'. Reminds me of a trip to Huddersfield for some reason.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• We are getting there, we have not yet arrived but we are on our way.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Olsson is about 510" I believed - not really CB size these days, but does anybody remember Craig Fleming or Freddy Sharp? CW is correct, though, Olsson is mainly a LB\left-sided midfielder with a (very) little bit of experience at CB. Funny old world; S\O and I both got that one wrong! Just shows you can disagree in order to agree. Or have I got that wrong too? To err is to be human... Err, I think thats right! ;-)) OTBC.

• Try again with different punctuation. At the mo, it's looking like: Goal: Ruddy, Bunn, Nash; Right back: Martin, Whittaker; Centre Back: R Bennett, Turner + Bassong, Alderweireld; Left Back: Garrido, Olsson; Central Midfield: Johnson, Fer + Tettey, Butterfield; Central Attacking Midfield: Hoolahan, Howson; Left Wng: Pilkington, Redmond Right Wing: Snodgrass, E Bennett Centre Forward: van Wolfswinkel, Becchio, ???. That's looking like a pretty fierce squad to me.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Both the Irish Times (who obviously love anything to do with CH and to a lesser degree Hooligan) and the Independent are showing what looks like PA copy saying Fer has had his medical and should sign sometime soon. Hope so. Rumour sites suggest Toivonen not coming here but staying put or becoming the new Odemwingie at WBA - thank Jeez for that, IMO.

• Fers failed medical with Everton was due to a knee problem which had kept him out of action for some weeks last Sept. Everton still wanted to go ahead but on a revised fee based on appearances and his club didn't agree. Lets hope it's all ok now as I think he will be a great addition. His Dutch coach has likened him to viera.

Thursday, July 11, 2013

• Just had a peak at Wiki. It would seem that Olsson is rated at 510". But, hey, whats 3 inches between close friends? Great signing, anyway!

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• With Swartzer, reportedly, off to Chelsea, more good news hopefully on Ruddy front too.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Alan - nice one. The Stranger Song is one by Leonard Cohen. It has reference to a man reaching into his pocket for a book of railway timetables, which appealed to me. On youtube there is an excellent live version that Leonard did on the Julie Felix TV show.

Thursday, July 11, 2013

• Alan - yes it is a singalong type of song although the lyrics are quite bitter. The most famous version is by Pete Seeger who is actually even older than me (I think he is 92). Probably the best Leonard Cohen song is Susanne. On youtube there is a version of Leonard in a hotel lobby, part of a film they made. This will appeal to Brew as it has Dutch sub titles along the screen.

• Yes, Martin Olsson is the Swedish international left back. This gives us good cover and competition across the back line, in fact top class cover of international players. Amazing considering where we were in 2009. Fer is a fantastic all-rounder (has played striker) is an ardent Roman Catholic and nick-named "The Bouncer" on account of his appearance.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Hi Dubai, I think you will find I was referring to Olsson. If you read further down the comments it was suggested that he is a CB.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• Yes the Schwarzer news is the best of the day - and the other bits ain't bad either. Like to see it finalised first tho, as ever. No Hooper for me, thank you and not just for FC's valid reasons. Steady On, please get the help you obviously need.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

• by the way, Simeon has signed for German side Eintracht Braunschweig. Good luck boy!

Thursday, July 11, 2013

• VictorM, I totally agree with you. I was not an Ajax supporter but when i was much younger i took the tram and went many times to Ajax for only one man: Johan Cruijff. He was for me not only the greatest football player on earth but looking at him was watching art in the highest form. If you watch Johan Cruijff Nr 14 on DVD you will see what i mean. It's an older movie but it's so fabulous. Ricky is no Cruijff but he has something that i saw in Cruijff. He has no fear. And he scored a lot of goals for all teams he played for. And if you mention his name to the Celtic defenders (FC Utrecht - Celtic 4 - 0 Europe League) they start to hyperventilate. Ricky scored 3 goals. He was a nightmare for them. Time will tell but the dutchies will feel at home in Norwich and do a great work.
