Norwich City Under-18s 3, West Bromwich Albion Under-18s 4

There were goals galore at Colney on Saturday with visitors West Bromwich Albion taking all three FA Premier Academy League points.

Neil Adams named a young City Under-18 side that included no second-year scholars and had a sprinkling of triallists.

The Canaries made the best possible start when captain Cameron Norman scored from a penalty after seven minutes.

Their lead lasted just five minutes, however. The Baggies drew level when Ged Oldnall finished at close range after goalkeeper Liam Sharpe could only parry a fierce shot.

Harvey Hodd was denied by visiting ’keeper Alex Palmer when he turned a 25-yard effort over the crossbar, while at the other end Sharpe denied Aaron Birch.

Albion slowly but surely took the game by the scruff of the neck as Sharpe produced another good save, while moments later Joel Ambalu blasted a shot across the face of City’s goal.

City rode their luck when a shot defected off Ray Grant on to the crossbar, while in the closing minutes of the first half, both Roderick Young and Jamie Eaton-Collins went close for Norwich.

Just 60 seconds into the second half, Albion got their noses in front when Birch was perfectly placed to score from a free-kick.

It took a double save from Sharpe to deny Oldnall but he was not to be denied on 60 minutes when he scored the visitors’ third.

City never gave up and on 73 minutes, following a corner, Kevin Lokko pulled a goal back.

Eight minutes from time, Albion restored their two-goal advantage when Sharpe slipped on the edge of the area allowing the ball to be slotted home.

With the last kick of the game, Norwich scored their third when Lokko, at the far post, headed the ball back for substitute Dominic St Louis to head home.
