Norwich City’s Jacob Butterfield has joined Championship side Crystal Palace on an emergency loan deal until February 19.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who signed as a free agent in the summer after leaving Barnsley, spent two months on loan at Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers during the end of last year - making eight appearances for the Trotters before returning to Carrow Road.
Butterfield played the final 18 minutes of City’s 3-0 FA Cup win at Peterborough on January 5, only his third competitive outing in yellow. And now he will look to get games elsewhere over the coming weeks of the campaign.
Ian Holloway’s Palace side are fourth in the Championship, and Butterfield will be eligible to play in Saturday’s clash at home to Bolton Wanderers.

You don`t usually play the twerp, el dingo. You know full well the reference was to Murray. I just thought Canary fans might find the remarkable similarities with Holty of interest, if only whimsically. Hey-ho; Stony ground. Btw, Murray was born in Maryport, Cumbria. I will keep Algarve`s dream in mind; Butterfield for England. He`d better hurry up - he`s hardly played for lil ol` Naaaridge yet!

Would love to think that JB's loan to Palace could be the sweetener for a deal for Zaha. Zzzzz! Huruumph! (Wakes up and smells the coffee!)

Ha, ironic if he scores against Bolton - go on Jacob, show 'em (and us) what they're missing.

I doubt very much that it's a sweetner to sign anybody from Palace. Just the need to get a player who is seen to be England potential, match practice and up to speed for next season.

I was ony a few minutes ahead of the EDP this time (see previous Butterfield article). Good choice of club; in contention for promotion and seemingly ambitious, within financial constraints. Any chance it might ease the transfer of Glenn Murray our way? Big old-fashioned striker, 29, 6` 2" been around the lower leagues a bit (Carlisle, Rochdale, Barrow, Workington - remind you of anyone @ Naaridge??). Good scoring record. More likely it`s a "sweetener" to get Julián Speroni, a 33 year-old goalie.......
