Norwich City boss Chris Hughton had virtually a full squad to knock into shape during a soaked pre-season training session at Colney today.
With the press invited to keep a watching brief for the first time since the summer, the likes of Daniel Ayala, Marc Tierney and James Vaughan were all taking a full part in the morning’s proceedings.
New signing Jacob Butterfield was also in attendance but doing separate fitness work as he continues his recovery from knee surgery after missing the second half of last season with Barnsley.
The new coaching team of Colin Calderwood, Paul Trollope and goalkeeping coach Dave Watson were all in attendance as Hughton took the possession-based session.

Barton is a magnet for trouble. It is actually true that the "Man City" incident was started by Tevez but then Barton took it to a whole new level and came close to ending his career. I fear that before long Darwinian principles will remove him from the gene pool, though unfortunately, he has already reproduced.

Steve Kean must be deluded, Swiss. Joey Barton is a passport to finishing games with 10 or fewer of his players on the pitch. And a disrupted dressing room. He must be as barking as Barton.

Tierney is extant! Dani and James both mended. Our cup runneth over!

Tried to reply, Ghana Dom but guess what.... Yes, that resembles journalism. I like surprises.

Yes, Ghana Dom, that resembles journalism! Should we expect any less? Note comments from Timbo & Crab, though. I am not alone in my disdain! Moro looks mournful; that`s normal. Jonno looks like Topol as Fiddler on the Roof. Marc Tierney is extant! Vaughan, if he stays fit, is a "new signing".All good. OTBC.

Sorry Canary Wurst, my old sossidge, but they look like Norwich training tops to me. When did Newcastle adopt the canary as their badge?

How many reporters does it take to produce 3 paragraphs after a visit to a training session?

Ron Saunders would have had the players up and down Mousehold heath to open up the lungs a bit. Happy days.

A liitle surprising that CH has decided to impose Newcastle Utd colours on the squad. But if we can equal their league position next year then I guess that's ok.

I am loving the pic of Dani Ayala - Billy the Fish - and he looks well finally.

Great piccies of the squad being put through their paces. And good to see players like Ayala and Tierney back in training as well. Hope Ruddy's broken finger has mended well and the long term injured can stay fit and play an important role in keeping us firmly in the PL. OTBC

I rate the mentioned trio highly, I think Tierney is a great defender and is confident going forward and I think both Ayala and Vaughan have huge potential, just hoping they both can put their injuries behind them and continue their development.

We could make it the unholy trinity of JT on bass, Andy-Pandy Carroll on lead and Joey Barton on percussion as I understand that even QPR are now trying to off-load him on loan for a fraction of the 80-grand a week they are paying him. Apparently Steve Kean thinks that Joey is Blackburn Rovers ticket back to the Premier League.

Mr Terry could be cover I suppose, same as if we took Carroll on loan. Now that Rangers have been voted into the Scottish 3rd division are there any other players we'd like from them?

So now that the legal case against that nice man Mr Terry is finished we can go ahead with signing him as an extra defender.

yep, we've lost a good ambitious coaching team but got a very good experienced one to replace them, glad we got Dave Watson too. With 3 young English keepers its good we have the England goalkeeping coach. I think we'll be safe again this season.

Its good to hear that those players who have had longterm injuries have been able to start pre-season training. I really do believe the squad are in good hands with Hughton and his team in charge, I am feeling very confident about the new season ahead. I reckon we will cause even more surprises than last season; all for the right reasons of course!!! OTBC
