Robert Snodgrass is simply indispensible on current form. The statistics tell you Snodgrass has scored three in the last five Premier League games and been the source of numerous assists.

But there is also the intangible benefits the Scottish international brings to Chris Hughton’s collective. Whenever Norwich earn a free-kick opportunity in and around the vicinity of the opposition box, Snodgrass’ mastery of the dead ball must now be inducing a sense of panic amongst the Premier League goalkeepers’ union.

Ben Foster should have done better after getting two hands to the midfielder’s first-half free kick, but the execution and the dip was every bit as impressive as Snodgrass’ winner on the road last time out at Swansea.

Two more free kicks tight to the right touchline deep into stoppage time very nearly produced a late twist along the lines of Sébastien Bassong’s headed equaliser at Everton.

Less glamourous, but no less intrinsic to the cause, is Snodgrass’ defensive discipline and appetite for work. Countless times in the second period at the Hawthorns when Albion pressed, Snodgrass raced backwards just in front of Steven Whittaker or latterly Russell Martin to bolster Norwich’s exposed right-flank.

Snodgrass was unquestionably City’s top man over the opening weeks. He is now in even better form.

  • According to the Daily Mirror, LAM80 wants to take Moro to Villa. Who said PL was not a kindly person?

  • Snods definitely played his socks off against West Brom. I think Moro is copping a lot of flack, which is a bit harsh as we should get behind all the players. Seems that he is very much a confidence player and he just didn't click last Saturday. Chelski gave Villa a right good thrashing last night. We had better make sure we rattle them from the word go on Boxing Day ! OTBC

  • Please God, not Becchio. I would think differently if we were in the Championship but seriously doubt that Becchio could hack it in the PL.

  • I actually like Morrison but he really isn't suited to the lone striker role. As a confidence player it's dreadful to see him deflate when the crowd moans at his first bad touch. Perhaps better at away games? Could we swap him for Messi?
