Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has told the Irish Herald that he will stick to his system for the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers, which would appear to rule out Norwich City’s Wes Hoolahan.
Trapattoni said: “Now I can say no (to Wes), because we have our system because we have Robbie Keane, Long and Cox. We have two strikers in our system. We need more weight in the attack.
“We tried in the past with James McCarthy, we tried with (James) McClean. It is not easy to change this system when they play a different system in their clubs.”
Hoolahan told the Herald: “I would like to be in there for the Sweden game in March. I don’t pick the team but I feel I can play at this level.
“I will keep doing what I have been doing with Norwich and hope that’s good enough. If I keep playing well for the club then I have a chance with Ireland.
“It won’t be easy. You have Robbie Keane coming back for the next games, and the lads who have been in the squad before me have done well. But I would like a chance at least.”

I think you may be right Stew.... Wes Hoolahan plays "Chess" compared with Trapps' lot only able to play "Draughts".

Prattatoni would rather have a complete side made up of nearly men, and not have them embarrassed by the quality of Wes!

Trapattoni is hurting the Ireland team and the Irish. It is sad for Wes but he is probably best out of it. Il Trap is a member of Opus Dei, maybe it's members only.
