Norwich City’s new manager Chris Hughton has pledged it will be evolution rather than revolution as he bids to build on the strong Premier League foundations laid by predecessor Paul Lambert.

“I think everybody appreciated the job he did here and I think it’s a hard act to follow - but it’s about the challenge,” he said. “It’s about making progress at the club, it’s about stability in this division and with every new manager a new player to work with is a challenge. Any decisions or areas I feel I need to strengthen I will have my own thoughts, but it’s also about learning about the squad and sometimes you can be surprised.

“It’s a different voice that’s coming in, a different look that’s coming in. I know what the players have achieved over the last few seasons and I know the strengths they have and it will be my job over a period of time, to assess what I’ve got and where we can strengthen.”

  • Ar-chant probably have a many-faced wind-up merchant on their staff to annoy 1p5wich fans as well. It`s just that it`s not really worth the effort these days. Hence the concentration on messing up Norwich`s fan boards.

  • It`s Hughton, Dubia(!). Let`s at least get his name right before Lupa Trembla fades from our collective memory.

  • Very unhelpful article in "The Indescribablyboring" about how the tartan one is "free" to rebuild Vanilla by "raiding" Norwich. I'm trying to stay calm about the Vanilla situation, but if he does start to make life difficult for Chris Hughton by unsettling Norwich City players, I'm going to lose it. If the the Norwich City chapter of your life is closed as you claim, then just go away quietly Jock. You are in danger of going from the most popular manager in our history to the least, in a matter of weeks.

  • Opps...sorry Brew, off to Addis in the morning to brush up on me spellin' !! Anyway, I am glad Hughton (no extra O this time) is on board. Now we just need to fix Holty's head back on again and we'll be in a good place......

  • blackdog2,you have my sympathy. Gratuitous ethering by Ar-chant is an irritant we all suffer too often, sadly. Timbo keep cairm, keep cairm! I think McNally is too canny to let Lupa Trembla come back and raid OUR best players. Witness Russ`s new contract plus Foxy`s. Cully still with us too..... I wonder if he sees Norwich as his future, cut that tartan umbilical? He has a distinguished playing record @ Naaaridge and he`s a pal of Chris Hughton`s from their Spurs days..... OTBC

  • Good interview. Seems a very decent, fair sort of bloke. A lot easier to take to than Lambert who (for all his talent) had all the warmth of an undertaker. Welcome to The Carra, Chris. We hope + pray you can do the business !

  • Billy I can't stop laughing at your joke of a club Ipswich ;) If you look at the facts, Hughtons record is great, nothing like Roeder or Roader as you put it.

  • Glad he's here. My only other choice if we couldn't get CH was Pep Guadiola. CH took the job so that's Peps' loss! I am very impressed with how David McNally has been doing things with this club. I reckon he's as important as the manager. Well done and GAME ON!
