Norwich City centre-back Brad Hills has won the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Trust player of the season award for the 2023-24 campaign.

Hills has impressed throughout his season-long loan with sturdy defensive displays, playing 88pc of Stanley's League Two despite missing four games through suspension.

In total the 20-year-old made 48 appearances for Accrington, who finished 17th in the fourth division. He'll return to Carrow Road this summer, where it's understood he's under consideration for a place in the first-team squad.

A spokesman for the Supporters Trust said as the defender was presented with the award: "Seventeen players gained votes and our winner had over 48% of them.

"A firm favourite with his wholehearted displays with not an inconsiderable amount of ability, and we just wish he was ours."

Hills, a Norwich native, has previously captained the Canaries' under-23s and was included in the matchday squad when they were beaten 1-0 by Burnley in October 2022.

Speaking to the Pink Un last month, he said: "It’s looking good for next season! We’re all having good seasons, and it’ll be good to go back in pre-season, everyone bonding and fighting for that centre-back spot.

“I’ve always been a Norwich fan. My family are Norwich fans, and I’d love to play for them. But I want to go somewhere where I am going to play football, whether that’s Norwich or Accy. I want to play football week in and week out.

“I came on loan to play football, and that’s what I’m doing. Hopefully, this season will create a pathway for me next season, whether that’s at Norwich or somewhere else in the Football League.

“This is like a stepping stone for me, and I need to keep climbing the ladder and see where that takes me.

"They have left me to get on with what I’m doing, and I think I’ve done that alright. When I go back, I feel like I’ll be a bit more mature.

"I’m still a kid, and I still have those giddy moments. I’m still learning as I go."
