Norwich City play-off hero Cameron Jerome is set for another date at Wembley after helping Bolton Wanderers secure their spot in the League One final.

The experienced striker is part of Bolton's side gearing up for a shot at promotion to the Championship via a play-off final - with Oxford and Peterborough United set to face them.

A 3-2 defeat to Barnsley was enough to secure a 5-4 aggregate win to send them to Wembley, with Jerome being a second half substitute used to help see out the result at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Tuesday night.

Jerome will have fond memories of Wembley after scoring City's opening goal in a 2-0 play-off final victory over Middlesbrough at the national stadium in 2015.

The striker, now 37, played 138 times for the Canaries, scoring on 42 occasions. None of his goals were bigger than that Wembley final, where he snatched possession from Daniel Ayala before slotting in at the near post after 12 minutes.

His relationship with Norwich is so strong that he rejected Ipswich's advances to sign him in August 2018.

Since leaving Carrow Road to join Derby County in January 2018, Jerome has had spells with Turkish side Gotzepe, MK Dons and Luton. He joined Bolton in January 2023 and is hoping for play-off success again.

Jerome has played a key role off the bench for Ian Evatt's side this season as they fell just short of automatic promotion behind Derby and Portsmouth - but the Wanderers boss was quick to praise the former Norwich man for his contribution on and off the pitch this season.

“It is a great help for us that he is coming off the bench and scoring goals,” Evatt told the Bolton News

“He has been a big part of what we have done this season and as I have said at times I don’t think he has had the respect he deserves.

“He is a big part of what we do and it is great that the goals have started to come.”

Jerome's former team mate Josh Murphy will be hoping to join him as his Oxford side take a 1-0 lead into tonight's semi-final second leg against Peterborough - who have former Canaries keeper Jed Steer in their ranks.
