Mattishall set up cup double

Anglian Combination Premier Division trophy battlers Mattishall have a chance of a cup double.

Having booked themselves a Norfolk Senior Cup final spot at Carrow Road against Ridgeons Premier Norwich United, the village side reached the final of their league's Mummery Cup with a penalty shootout win at first Division Horsford.

The sides were 3-3 after extra time, Horsford's goals coming from Darren Nichols (2) and Steven Tidy, Mattishall's marksmen Simon Wooden, Christian Harbour and Jake Anema. The spot kicks score was 3-1 to Mattishall.

Division Two's West Lynn SSC are through to the final of the Norfolk Junior Cup, where they will play Divison Three Foulsham, also at Carrow Road. The Lynn side won their semi-final replay 1-0 at Great Yarmouth League outfit Catfield.

Only two of the scheduled five Premier Division games beat the weather.

Loddon missed a chance to close on the leading pack as they went down 3-0 at home to a Brandon side now fourth, John Waites (2) and Wayne Proctor their scorers.

North Walsham head the race for the Sterry Cup with 38 points from 18 games, followed by Blofield, six points fewer but with three games in hand, with several teams still in contention. Cromer in seventh spot have 25 points but have played just 14 matches of the 30-game campaign.

Spixworth kept Sprowston Athletic bottom with a 3-0 home win, goals from Ben Gowing, Andrew Hayton and Lee Askew.

In Division One, second-placed Kirkley & Pakefield Reserves failed to take full advantage of leaders Norwich St John's inactivity by being held to a 0-0 home draw by Hindringham, who are sixth.

Saints have 42 points from 19 games, K&P 40 from 21, as have Long Stratton in third spot after their 1-0 reverse at Stalham, Darren Millar getting the only goal of that game.

Corton had a 3-0 home win over Reepham, Kevin Oldman (2) and Nathan Wilinson finding the net, while Wymondham beat their visitors, bottom side Sole Bay, 3-2. James McCloy, David Ramsbottom and Luke Rackham scored the home goals, Darren Jordon and Joshua Freeman responding.

In the semi-finals af the C S Morley Cup, Cromer Reserves won 3-2 at Beccles Town Reserves while North Walsham Reserves cruised through 5-0 at home to Blofield Reserves.
