Spixworth United......Spixworth made the short trip to Trafford Park on Wednesday where they suffered their first defeat of the season losing 3-1 to a very strong Wroxham Reserves. This was an evenly fought contest which switched from end to end throughout, both teams creative in front of goal. offering excellent entertainment for the large contingent of Spixworth supporters. Goalless at the interval the second burst into life after ten minutes with two goals in two minutes. Wroxham went ahead when Spixworth allowed a home player an unchalleffged run at their defence before scoring fom close range. Spixworth's immediate reply came when a goalbound drive fom Mark Pitcher was handled. Dan Allen confidently despatched the resulting spot kick despite some gamesmanship by the home keeper.. Play then continued to follow the first half pattern but as the half progressed Spixworth became stretched, their attacks less frquent. With twelve minutes remaining Wroxham regained the lead. Spixworth introduced substitutes Hislop, Barzey and Ward but Wroxham were resolute in their defending. Four minutes from time they scored thier third which had striking similarities to thier first goal.

Dissapointing to lose but not disgraced, indeed Spixworth were more than a match for thier opponents until the final fifteen minutesof the game. A good all round team performance from Spixworth against a side who, if they stay together, will undoubtedly be challenging for honours.

Goalkeeper Ross Bilham gave an assured performance, his double save midway through the first half was exceptional, inspiring confidence to those around him.

On Saturday another short away trip, at Sprowston Athletic where three points were gained with a 1-0 victory. Following three difficult away fixtures, we make our long awaited home debut on Saturday, against Brandon Town.
