A second successive away defeat for Spixworth on Saturday, visiting St. Andrews they lost 2-0. Because of reserve cup commitments, Saturdays was a rearranged fixture, and arguably our worst performance of the season.

Wet and windy conditions were the order of the day at Thorpe Rec. on Saturday. The weather however, cannot be offered as an excuse for Spixworths poor display, by contrast St. Andrews mastered the conditions well, producing a very good team performance.

Following the previous weeks defeat manager Brown introduced team changes, Ramsay Gashut returning to the line up with Graeme Bird partnering the in form Damian Didwell in attack. Team changes failed to have the desired effect, Spixworths attack received little support or service throughout, the midfield often being by passed with route one tactics. Apart from defenders Luke Humphrey, Ben Gowing and Mark Bloomfield few players emerged with any credit. All three substitutes entered the fray, a situation which backfired when keeper Ross Bilham was injured ten minutes from time leaving Spixworth to play with ten men. Without doubt a most disappointing afternoon!

The team spirit displayed in recent games against Blofield and Thetford must be recaptured, and soon! In what appears to be a very compact division it is important to achieve a level of consistency. Maintaining good form will result in being amongst the leading clubs, a position we all want to see Spixworth command.

On Saturday we are at home to Mattishall in round two of the Mummery Cup. With new signings in the pipeline it is highly probable there will again be changes to the team line up!
