Division One

t MATTISHALL 2, GREAT YARMOUTH TOWN 1

MATTISHALL completed their pre season friendlies on Friday evening against Great Yarmouth Town in the Ray (Chalkie) Burrell Memorial Cup and regained the trophy for another year defeating their opponents by 2-1.

This was a very good entertaining match played in the right spirit with a very good crowd witnessing the procedures.

A collection was carried out and a barbeque with all proceeds going to the charity of the family's choice.

This match was in its ninth year against the same opponents as Chalkie always had fond memories with Great Yarmouth FC when he had cause to support Mattishall on famous cup runs with the club.

On Tuesday, Mattishall entertain Attleborough Town, kick off 6.30pm, the Reserves entertain Foulsham FC the following Wednesday, kick off 6.30pm.

Fixtures for the A team are still to be published.

The club is still looking for a potential manager to help with the youngsters in the clubs A team. Anyone interested should contact the club chairman Kenn Winn on 07932141642 or the first team manager Gavin Tipple on 01362 850311.

t ATTLEBOROUGH TOWN 7, WYMONDHAM TOWN 0

WYMONDHAM went into this derby game in good spirits, after a productive pre-season. What unfolded was a complete and utter embarrassment, with Attleborough running out thoroughly deserved 7-0 winners.

Credit must be given to Attleborough, who were well organised, hardworking and clinical in front of goal. In my opinion, they controlled the game from minute 1 until the last. I think I speak on behalf of all the players, who realise we let ourselves down and the people who came to support.

At half time Wymondham were 3-0 down, with some clinical finishing from Attleborough. Manager Garwood lambasted his players for not closing down and not playing with heart. Hoping for a response but what unfolded in the second half was even worse.

Attleborough went onto to score four more goals with Ramsbottom in particular finishing well into the top corner. Although it's a lot easier to score when you are afforded the time and space Attleborough were given. The final game and Wymondham were put out of their misery.

The management stressed that we must learn from this and put it behind us. Manager Garwood commented that he felt embarrassed by the performance and such a performance will not be tolerated.

Wymondham Town would like to thank Unique Building Supplies for their kind sponsorship of a new first team kit. The new kit being the biggest highlight coming out of the game!

Next first team game is at home to St Andrews on Tuesday. The Reserves are away to Brandon the night after, both 6.30 kick-off. Your support is appreciated.
