Champions Marlborough go goal crazy

Despite one or two changes of personnel in the summer, champions Marlborough showed that they are intent on keeping their crown as they thumped bottom side Hellesdon Athletic 11-1.

They top the Premier Division on goal difference from AFC Wanderers where goals from Craig Vincent and Danny Pennall helped them bounce back from last week’s defeat, to beat Doghouse 2-1. Sprowston Rovers moved up to third as they beat Norwich Busmen 5-1 and there was a hat-trick for Joe Woodcock and a goal for Danny Nelson as Bayer FC beat Aylsham Sunday 4-2.

Norman Wanderers stay top of 1A after scoring eight without reply against Hockering. Sprowston Sunday moved up to second place as they hit seven (Green 2, Eves, Halliday, Doyle 2 and Maxey) at Eaton FC and Windmill Wanderers also grabbed seven (Gary Walsh 4, Nathan Joy 2, Gary Bland) as they won at Dussindale Rovers. A single goal from Jason Drake was enough for Vale Longo to win at Aslacton and North Walsham Town beat DCS Rapid by the odd goal of nine. Horsford United moved away from the foot of the table after a 7-3 home win over Castlegate.

A Jody Blaseby goal was enough to keep Heartsease FC at the top of 1B as they drew 1-1 at Acle Rangers Reserves. Second placed Earlham United were 5-1 winners at PL Rangers, whilst Unicorns had a 3-1 (Nobbs, Brown, Nichols) victory over Spixworth Sunday. Dale Watkins (2), Ryan McFadden and Darren Tubby were all on target as St Faiths moved up to fourth after beating Moles Rest 4-1.

Roy Bevis helped himself to a hat-trick as 2A leaders Riverside Rovers were convincing 9-1 victors at home to The Cottage. Norman Wanderers were 4-3 winners at Deopham and New Buckenham won by the same score at Constable Crusaders. Andrews, Hobley, Durrant and Williams all found the net for the South Norfolk side. Mad Moose scored eight times (Goodwin-Wright 3, Swabey 2, Goodwin, Halsey and OG,) against Acle Wanderers who replied twice through Holmes and Harrison. Stoke FC moved up to fifth spot as they ran out 8-2 winners at The Stores. Ross Books and Nick Aston scored for Dancing Farmers as they shared the points with Green Man, Brooks also missed a penalty.

With Bell Inn inactive, Poringland Wanderers closed the gap at the top of 2B to a point as they won 6-1 (Chris Sinderby, Jonny Causton 2, Ryan Drake Matt Nichols 2) at Ribs Rovers. One Love United were beaten 4-2 at Briston Wanderers, whilst Salhouse Rovers were 5-1 (Chris Crampton 2, Neil Woolner, Jamie Weavers and Ben Potts) winners at Hillside OB, who Salhouse say played with a spirit that belied their league position. SDC United said referee Mark Ames was outstanding as they beat Sloughbottom Revolution 4-0 and there was a narrow 3-2 win for Unicorns Reserves over DEF FC.

There was two goals for Sam Page as Brooke took over at the top of 3A as they won 3-2 at Sporting Longdale. Jamie Platten and Joel Baldwin scored for Longdale. Temples Property scored twice as they won at Newsman Celtic and Matthew Blanch scored his first two goals of the season as Eaton Young Boys drew 3-3 at Phoenix Felthorpe. Manor Park drew 2-2 at home to Temple Bar, whilst their was a first win of the season for Norman Wanderers A as they beat River Garden 7-3. There were goals galore at Hainford Howitzers as they drew 5-5 with William Wanderers. Leo Dudley (3), Peter Taylor and Nick Pover scored for the home side whilst Daniel Childerhouse (3) and Liam Brown (2) replied for Wanderers. Johnny Bailey, Josh Bull, Dan Burrett and James Wheeler all scored for Hethersett as they came from a goal down to beat Costessey Sports 4-2 whilst Jordan Rocastle and Jerry Croft scored for Angel Gardens as they drew 2-2 with Schoolhouse, James Slater and Sam Watts replying. Taverham United won by the only goal at Salhouse Reserves and Windmill Elite grabbed their first points of the season as they beat Earlham Colney 4-0.

The game between the top two in 4A, saw leaders Costessey West End run out 5-0 winners over Dilham Cross Keys. Sporting Longdale Reserves went down 5-4 (Stewart Halton, Nick Clark, Liam Kirby and Chris Dennison) at Horsford Youth and CNSOBU Sunday were 7-2 victors over Hockering Reserves. There was a hat-trick for Tom Miller in Brooke Reserves’ 3-3 draw with Micawbers Tavern.

In 4B, leaders Freemasons won 4-0 at Locksley Athletic, Hethersett Reserves won 5-1 at Bunwell and Spixworth Sunday Reserves were 5-1 winners at AFC Oak. Luke Morgan scored his fourth goal of the game in stoppage time to give Red Lion a 5-4 victory over Shipdham Rangers. Mark Cole scored the other, whilst Josh Price (2), Ross Betts and Erik Woodcock scored for Shipdham.
