Final preparations are under way for a civic parade to mark Lowestoft Town Football Club's achievement in reaching the FA Vase final at Wembley.

While the Trawler Boys were sunk by two late goals, the players will parade through the town on Sunday after Waveney District Council decided to mark their memorable performances in the competition.

The team will leave their Crown Meadow ground on an open top bus at 10.45am and travel by police escort along Rotterdam Road and Denmark Road to arrive in Bevan Street for 11am.

They will then by joined by the Kirkley High School girls' football team, who recently won the under-16 national schools' championship, and march along London Road North to the Britten Centre.

Players will address the crowd, before they continue to Milton Road East to rejoin the bus and head to the town hall in High Street for a civic reception.

A Waveney District Council spokesman said: “We are calling everybody to the centre of Lowestoft on Sunday to give the town's footballing heroes the recognition they so richly deserve.”

Lowestoft lost 2-1 to Lancashire team Kirkham & Wesham on Sunday.
