In almost perfect conditions on an extremely well prepared pitch the Pedlars triumphed at home on Saturday.

Swaffham started the more confident and were far stronger in midfield than have demonstrated in previous matches this season.

David Greenwod was booked in the 20th minute for showing studs. The deadlock was broken in the 35th minute when good arial combination work saw Richard Cornwall head away from a defender and Stuart Seales nod the ball over the goalkeeper.

They continued the second half the more dominant team, kicking uphill. Opportunities fell to both Paul Shafer and Stuart Seales but some sound keeping and defending by the Long Melford defence kept the ball out.

Cornwall was unlucky to be booked in the 56th minute for an arial challenge. Greenwood was replaced by Keith Polski and Cornwall with Kyle Plumb in the 80th. This decision proved inspirational by the Simmons/Kent management team as Plumb took on the keeper, beating him and then firing into the net three minutes later.

A well-earned three points and exceptional performances from Lewis Hemeter and Andrew Hunter.

The only disappointing part of the afternoon was the support for the team, the club are however very grateful for those who came, rallied the team and enjoyed the match.

Not so good for the Reserves, losing 2-0 to Wymondham Town Reserves. and the A team started their season losing 6-2 to Hingham Athletic.

Next, the first team are away to Haverhill Rovers in the FA Vase, the Reserves at home to Spixworth United Reserves and the A team are away to Cockers (2pm kick off).
