First-half goals from Matty Robinson and Jordan Blyth together with a late strike from Lee Hunter gave the Planters all three points at Wivenhoe.

Andrew Claydon also netted from the penalty spot only to be denied by keeper Aaron Reid when the kick was ordered to be retaken.

The Planters started strongly and took the lead in the sixth minute when Matty Robinson marked his first start since mid August by chasing a long ball forward and as he arrived at the ball just outside the area at the same time as keeper Reid the ball bounced off him and into an empty net.

The Planters had an excellent chance to double their lead four minutes later, Gavin Frost released Claydon who was brought down by Reaid as he ran into the area.

Claydon duly converted from the spot, but the referee ordered a retake and this time Reid saved Claydon's kick, the striker was first to the ball but once again Reid blocked before the referee eventually blew up for an infringement.

Wivenhoe had their first chance after 15 minutes when Ryan Amass headed wide from a right wing corner, but it was the Planters who doubled their advantage in the 18th minute, Frost releasing Jordan Blyth down the left he ran into the area beat two defenders and placed his shot inside the far post for an excellent individual goal.

There was a scare for the Planters defence three minutes later when from a corner on the left Craig Maiden's header hit the far post. The Planters continued in the ascendancy and Lee Hunter had a header saved by Reid and also hit a shot over the bar, Blyth had another run down the left but this time his ball inside was intercepted, at the other end Terence Amass' crossshot was well ahead of Scott Yearling.

After the break the match continued in much the same vein with the Planters well on top and Blyth shot wide after he had combined well with Claydon on the left. Lee Hunter forced a hurried kick from Reid and substitute Ricci Butler lobbed wide of the open net from over 30 yards.

Butler almost had another chance moments later when Tom Jeal's long throw was headed back by Blyth just in front of the incoming winger.

There was a double injury blow for the Planters as first Jeal landed heavily on his back and was replaced by Chris Squires and then just a few minutes later Butler, already on for Robinson, seemed to land awkwardly and after lengthy treatment on his ankle, he was carried off to be replaced by Tom Youngs.

Just a minute after the resumption and some tricky play wide on the left saw Claydon cross from the byline and Hunter headed home from close range to seal the points.

Hunter almost had a second in the 87th minute but saw his shot come back off the keepers upright.

Ben Connell went close for the Dragons his header was blocked by Steve Shipley and his follow up shot hit Nathan Pauling's post and substitute Michael Pash blasted well wide.

In the third minute of 11 minutes injury time Pauling was forced into a good save low down from James Raby.
