Defensive errors combined with poor finishing cost Norwich United dear as Woodbridge Town gained their first Premier Division home point of the season in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

The Planters, trailing at the break, got themselves in front only to see Woodbridge retake the lead with 11 minutes remaining, Paul Atkins immediately restoring parity, and the points were shared.

Manager Paul Chick was disappointed. "Poor decision-making in front of goal and at the back cost us dear," he said. "We created enough clear-cut chances to have scored many more than we did. This was two points dropped."

United fell behind after just seven minutes when former Planter Ben Goddard fired home from 10 yards. Chances went begging at the other end, Atkins, Lee Hunter, Tom Jeal and Andrew Claydon all failing to grab the equaliser.

The Planters saw another of their former players, Gavin Frost, firing over the bar and Ben Seaman's shot was deflected via the bar for a corner. The equaliser eventually came six minutes after the interval when Lee Hunter's free-kick was headed home by Steve Shipley.

United went ahead midway through the half with Woodbridge perplexed by the offside flag not going up. Claydon's header set Hunter away and, despite being well beyond the last defender, he was allowed to advance and score.

Five minutes later Ben Seaman had time and space to lob Nathan Pauling, and when the Planters failed to deal with a corner Aaron Churchyard netted from close range and defeat loomed.

Claydon again turned provider as within a minute the Planters were level again. Claydon's header released Atkins down the left, he took the ball into the area and from an acute angle hit the ball across Wilson and inside the far post.

Hunter had two further chances and Pauling had to save from Marcus Josiah as the Planters had to settle for a point from a game they should have won.

Dereham Town lost 1-0 at second-placed Needham Market in a game settled by a 36th minute deflected shot from Danny Thrower.

The Magpies had an early opportunity but keeper Danny Gay made a good save to keep out Craig Terrington's close-range effort.

There were few chances in a disappointing first half until Dereham keeper John Higgs made a great save from Damian Hilton's point-blank header in the 35st minute. A minute later came the only goal of the game.

Dereham had more chances second half and played better when forward Ben Latimer was introduced, but did not really look like scoring until ex-King's Lynn keeper Gay made a superb save at the end of the match to keep out Adam Gusterson's close-range header.
