THE Ghosts earned their first league point on Tuesday night in a 1-1 home draw with a lively March Town United, but created enough second-half chances to have won, a header coming back off the underside of the bar.
Fakenham took the lead on 20 minutes when Ben Darby converted a penalty low to the keeper's right after Mark Betts had been brought down.
But just before half-time a speculative effort from long range by Luke Pepper put the Hares level.
“We were pleased with the workrate and tempo, we looked sharper,” said joint manager Mark King.
The matchball was sponsored by The Dancing Goat.
Fakenham: Stockdale, Whittred, Woodhouse, Tagg, Day, Bamford, Cole, Betts, Darby, Delicata, Campbell. Subs not used: Haynes, Neal, Hooks, King, Goff.
There had been a disappointing first home league match for the Ghosts on Saturday.
There were mitigating factors with striker Karl Pask still out battling for fitness after a hernia operation, Danny Tanti, Martin Fenwick and Mark Critten not available and Julian Delicata lasting only 45 minutes suffering the effects a tooth abscess.
But generally the defence and midfield lacked order and bite, providing the forwards with few crumbs to feed off.
Cornard wasted early chances before a 23rd minute strike from Harry Schofield, who spotted keeper Danial Stockdale out of position and squeezed the ball past him from an angle.
At the other end, a highly confident Darren Moye plucked cleanly out of the air anything the Ghosts put into his goal area.
Just before the break, Stockdale was outfoxed by Dan Price as he left his line to close down the forward and at 2-0 the game was decided.
The match was sponsored by solicitors Hayes & Storr.

The Ghosts have signed goalkeeper Justin Goff from Holt United, who will provide cover for Stockdale and boost the coaching as he prepares for his FA coaching badge.
If no replay is needed from today's home FA Cup tie with Boston Town, Fakenham visit Halstead next Saturday in the league.
Fakenham Reserves followed up an encouraging 3-2 win at Reepham (og, Jason Cole, Ricky Frary) with a 2-1 defeat at King's Lynn SSC on Tuesday night, Kieron Bacon making it 1-1 before a penalty was conceded.
