Gorleston will be hoping to make it three league games unbeaten when Haverhill Borough visit Emerald Park for the first ever match between the two sides.

Ricci Butler’s Greens have won four of their opening six games in the table and have plenty of games in hand on their rivals.

Borough were only formed in 2011 – when they were known as Haverhill Sports Association – and entered the Essex & Suffolk Border League First Division.

They have had something of a meteoric rise and gained promotion to the Thurlow Nunn First Division for the 2013/14 season and finished third last season to earn their place in the Thurlow Nunn Premier.

The only team to have played fewer league games than Gorleston are their great local rivals, Great Yarmouth Town, who have played five games.

The Bloaters were due to play Fakenham Town in midweek, but floodlight problems forced the match to be postponed.

Coincidentally, Yarmouth also face a Haverhill team – Rovers, who are 11th in the table.

Yarmouth go into the game on the back of a 3-2 home win over Broxbourne Borough in the FA Vase last weekend, although the scoreline hardly reflected the performance.

“To play that badly and win we have to be pleased, but that was a disappointing performance by us,” admitted joint manager Adam Mason.

“We are through to the next round and I guess that is all that really matters. Fair play to Broxbourne who caused us problems all afternoon.”

Fakenham Town will be desperate to get away from the bottom of the table when they entertain Stanway Rovers.

Kirkley & Pakefield edged away from the lower reaches courtesy of their first win of the season in midweek, a 2-0 victory over Stowmarket Town, and will be hoping to follow that up when they travel to Saffron Walden.

In Division One, Diss Town are at home to winless Downham Town, who are second from bottom of the table, third-placed King’s Lynn Town entertain Norwich United, Norwich CBS welcome Needham Market Reserves and Wisbech St Mary host Halstead.
