Injury-hit King's Lynn Town made it back-to-back clean sheets last night as they extended their unbeaten run to eight matches at Cambridge City.

Draw specialists Lynn dominated affairs at Westwood Road but were unable to turn their long spells of possession into goals.

With Lee Stevenson joining Lee Smith, Matty Castellan, Ryan Hawkins and Ryan Fryatt on the treatment table, Linnets boss Gary Setchell was forced to shuffle his pack for a second match in three days. Jacek Zielonka and Jordan Yong were both handed starts while Lynn’s bench had a youthful look to it.

The Linnets controlled the first half and 15 minutes in some neat build-up play involving Shaun McWilliams and Sam Warburton saw the latter’s cross just evade Kurtis Revan at the far post.

Revan also shot straight into keeper Dean Snedeker’s arms while, at the other end, Ben Robinson’s burst into the Lynn box was foiled by the body of Alex Street.

McWilliams then fired a free-kick straight into the arms of Snedeker as Lynn remained on top.

Ten minutes before the interval Toby Hilliard did all the donkey work for Revan, whose shot from just inside the box crashed back off the woodwork.

A rare opportunity saw Salim Relizani go close for the Lilywhites as half-time loomed.

The hosts improved after the interval and a speculative effort from Relizani was comfortably dealt with by Street.

Lynn still looked the more likely to score and the dangerous Revan saw his mazy run into the box halted by Jordan Williams.

Fifteen minutes from time home substitute Oliver Snaith picked out fellow replacement Charlie Woolfe but his effort was brilliantly blocked by Sam Gaughran.

The second half lacked any real quality as Lynn watched another two points slip from their grasp.

Cambridge City: Snedker, Robinson, Foxley, Norman, Gent, Williams, Relizani (Snaith 70), Paterson, Capela (Woolfe 67), Foy (Osei 82), Sharman.

King’s Lynn Town: Street, Zielonka (Edge 78), Yong, Gaughran, Ward, McWilliams, Clunan, Quigley, Hilliard, Revan, Warburton. Subs not used: Setchell, McQuaid, McLeish. Congreave.
