King’s Lynn Town owner Stephen Cleeve has called on the people of Norfolk to back the Linnets’ promotion bid on Wednesday night.
A huge crowd is expected at The Walks when Lynn face Weymouth in a Southern League play-off semi-final.
“I would ask the people not only of the town but the surrounding area to come along and support us and get behind our team,” said Cleeve. “Weymouth, of course, are a very good side but on our day the team are a match for anyone in this division. We have all enjoyed a season of memorable football at The Walks and it would be marvellous not only for the club but the town in general if we could gain promotion and bring back step two football to west Norfolk. It’s 10 seasons since the former club played at that level, which is far too long for a town like this.”
Tonight’s crowd should top the season-high 1,181 who saw Lynn beat champions Hereford – a team they ‘doubled’ on the way to claiming runners-up spot. Win on Wednesday night, and Lynn will meet either Slough or Kettering, at The Walks, on Bank Holiday Monday.
