King's Lynn chairman Ken Bobbins arrived early for a 'significant day in the club's history' at their FA demotion hearing in Derby.

Bobbins and club solicitor Phil Hanby were joined by fellow directors Colin Nichols, Jimmy Suckling and Tim Coates at 10.25am outside the Derbyshire FA headquarters in the shadow of Derby County's Pride Park.

Two council officials were also part of the club's delegation ready to contest Lynn's pending expulsion for failing to begin a £250,000 upgrade to their council-owned Walks stadium before a March 31 Conference deadline.

Bobbins' was in confident mood prior to meeting the club's barrister for a final pre-appeal briefing before the scheduled 11.30am hearing.

“My thoughts are the same as they always have been and that is we get a fair hearing that is what it's about,” he said. “If we get a fair hearing then I think we'll be okay. We're just about to go and have a word with the barrister who is arriving shortly on the train from London and we'll see what she wants from us and take if from there.

“This could be a significant day in the history of King's Lynn. We've fought so hard for 50 or so years to get into this situation and to lose our Conference status like this would be a shattering blow. We've got a very strong case and if we get a fair hearing then we'll be okay.”

Conference secretary Dennis Strudwick arrived along with another league official by taxi at 10.50am before meeting two further members of the league delegation and going inside the Derbyshire FA headquarters.

Lynn's delegation went inside ten minutes later.
