King's Lynn boss Keith Webb confirmed last night he will not offer ex-Premiership trialist Kevin Horlock a deal at the Blue Square North new boys.

Webb revealed Horlock and fellow trialist Kieran Deane do not figure in his long term plans after the duo's second run out for the club in Lynn's latest pre-season friendly against Clyde.

Former West Ham and Ipswich midfielder Horlock played for an hour against the Scottish First Division outfit after also featuring in the weekend win over Cambridge United.

Ex-Lilywhites youngster Deane played the full 90 minutes against Clyde at right back but Webb is confident he has better options within his revamped Southern League, Premier Division title winning squad.

"We won't be pursuing either Kevin or Kieran," said Webb. "I just feel with what I saw in the two games that we have lads already in the squad who can do more than a capable job. I've said it before if we bring in players then they have to be better than what we already have here."

Webb is challenging versatile homegrown product Charlie Defty to build on his encouraging early pre-season form.

"Charlie did really well when he came into the side last season at a difficult time," said Webb. "It was round about the period when Greg Crane got injured. We had to call on Charlie and I was delighted with his contribution. I don't see any reason he canstep up again. He has things to learn in his game but he is more than capable of being part of the squad."

Webb and members of the club's board will be present at tonight's fans' forum in the Blue and Gold function room situated beneath the Main Stand (7pm).
