RIDGEONS LEAGUE: Needham Market came back from two goals down to keep their Ridgeons League championship dream alive last night with a 2-2 draw at Dereham. Needham Market came back from two goals down to keep their Ridgeons League championship dream alive last night with a 2-2 draw at Dereham.

The result set-up a mouth-watering final day visit to table-topping Soham Town Rangers, with Needham Market needing a win to pip their title rivals at the post.

Dereham seemed set to turn that dream fixture into an anti-climax. Nicky Howell nudged them in front from an Olly Willis cross after 28 minutes and the Magpies increased their lead when Ben Wake deflected a Howell cross into his own net.

The fightback began when Needham skipper Mark Bailey drilled home a 25-yard free-kick just before the interval.

But it wasn't until two minutes from the end of a thrilling second half that the visitors equalised when a Berry corner was headed out to Glenn Sell - who found the net with a stunning volley.

Dereham gave a debut to 16-year-old Joel Brien.

The third and fourth placed teams produced a thriller, with Wroxham drawing 3-3 at Mildenhall in a match marked by a torrential downpour which attracted a flock of Mallards on to the pitch.

David Werthmann opened the scoring for the hosts but Danny White (46) and Leighton Miller (55) put the Yachtsmen in front before Werthmann levelled in the 65th minute. James Tatham put Mildenhall ahead in the 74th minute but Gavin Lemmon fired home the equaliser right on time to earn the Yachtsmen a point.

Swaffham dropped into the bottom three after Histon Reserves beat Lowestoft 4-1, making it essential that the Pedlars get something from tonight's visit to Stanway.
