Lowestoft Town will come up against Suffolk rivals Bury Town next season - after the pair were placed in the same league.

The sides will go head-to-head in the Ryman League Premier Division, while another Suffolk side, Needham Market, will move up from the Ridgeons League in Ryman League Division One North.

Lowestoft won Division One North last season and were expecting to be placed into the top flight along with play-off winners Concord Rangers and Croydon Athletic and Folkestone Invicta from Division One South.

They will now face the likes of Kingstonian, Sutton United and Maidstone United after their second successive promotion.

But the addition of Bury to the league is a surprise as they make the switch from the Zamaretto League.

They won the Midland Division last season to earn promotion to the Ryman Premier, while a fourth Suffolk side, AFC Sudbury, have been placed in Ryman Division One North.

It also remains to be seen what will happen in the Ridgeons League, with champions Needham following in the footsteps of Lowestoft and earning promotion to the Ryman League.

All the moves are still provisional after details were released by the Football Association and have yet to be ratified, so there could be some changes, ahead of an FA meeting early next month.
