After two defeats in the past week, Lowestoft Town bounced back in style with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday.
It was a result which delighted Blues' joint boss Micky Chapman who said he was proud of the way his players had responded.
“The boys were excellent, all credit to them - they responded the way we were hoping they would,” he said. “It's a really posititve result and an important three points.
“There has been a lot of talk about pressure getting to Lowestoft. We just told the lads to ignore that and focus on ourselves.
“I'm so proud of them. It is a fantastic result, three points and a clean sheet as well,” he stressed.
The current leaders of the Ryman League Division One North table, were dealt a heavy blow on Tuesday when they were thrashed 5-0 by second-placed Concord Rangers.
Then on Thursday, despite a much better performance, the Blues bowed out of the Ryman League's Championship Manager Cup competition at the quarter-final stage with a 2-1 defeat, after conceding a last-minute goal at Croydon.
“It was a tough week for us, two long journeys and two defeats,” said Chapman. “I told the lads to take the attitude from Thursday's game into [Saturday's] game in the league.
“The boys were first class, got a great result, put in a solid, workmanlike performance in tough conditiions on a bobbly pitch.
“We matched them in all areas in the first half and it was 0-0 at half time then we scored three really good goals. We completely deserved the three points.”
He was pleased that so many fans travelled to Wakering to support the Blues, over a hundred.
