Ridgeons rivals meet in FA Cup

FOOTBALL Norfolk rivals Gorleston and Fakenham will meet each other in this season's FA Cup extra preliminary round following yesterday's draws for the early ties of FA competitions.

The Greens will host Fakenham on Saturday, August 16. Selected other ties: Diss v Walsham Le Willows, Hadleigh United v Great Yarmouth Town, Thetford Town v Needham Market, Debenham LC v Dereham Town, Lowestoft Town v St Ives Town, Wisbech Town v Norwich United, Wroxham v Kirkley & Pakefield. The draw has also been made for the preliminary round match ups on August 30. Full details available on thefa.com. Blue Square North club King's Lynn enter the FA Cup at the second qualifying round stage.

FA Vase runners-up Lowestoft have an exemption through the second round proper of this season's competition. The Blues' were beaten 2-1 by Kirkham & Wesham at Wembley in May. Wisbech host Swaffham in a West Norfolk derby in the first round qualifying stage on September 6. Selected other ties: Debenham LC v Fakenham Town, Gorleston v Deeping Rangers. Second round qualifying ties are scheduled for September 20. Selected ties: Walsham Le Willows v Wisbech Town or Swaffham Town, St Neots Town v Great Yarmouth Town, Holbeach United v Gorleston or Deeping Rangers, Lincoln Moorlands Railway or Sleaford Town v Diss, Debenham LC or Fakenham Town v Stowmarket Town, Kirkley & Pakefield v Norwich United, Mildenhall Town or Godmanchester Rovers v Thetford Town.
