With a cup final already in the bag, Division 4A newcomers Sprowston Royal Oak have now set their sights on catching league leaders Wellington Pink Uns.

Sprowston reached the county Sunday Junior Cup final after beating Downham OB 6-1 in their semi-final replay.

The leaders have a 100 per cent record but Oak have only dropped five points themselves and face the Dereham-based side in a couple of weeks. "Great though the final will be, it goes on the back-burner for now," said Sprowston secretary Shaun Maxey. "We would like to catch them and it could certainly be possible." Both sides joined the league this season and Maxey said his side have improved this season under manager Graham Franks and although he hated to admit it Maxey said his brother Darren, and captain Dave Wallace, have been outstanding. Their opponents this weekend are Norwich Airport, who have had a complete turnaround since changing their name from Bowthorpe Athletic. Secretary Graham Bunting says that the Lyng-based team are looking forward to playing the Royal Oak as playing against better players seems to bring the best out of their young side. "We have only two players left from last season and have four players aged 16 who are playing in their first year of adult football. The likes of centre back James Stamford have been phenomenal and with youngsters like these, the future looks bright." The league hopes to complete the first and second rounds of the Pink Un League Cup this weekend.
