It was League Cup day and in the Smallburgh Crown Division One competition the most exciting tie of the day took place at Runton where Ludham were the visitors.

At the end of ninety minutes scores stood at two apiece thanks to a last minute equaliser by Runton who repeated the feat to make it four apiece at the end of extra time and then went to win a high-scoring penalty shoot-out.

On target for Runton were Lewis Smith (2), Tim Francis and Peter Medland-Abbs with Rob McCombe (2), Danny Moore and Liam Burke for the visitors. In the next round Runton visit Worstead.

Ash Wilton’s headed goal was enough to see East Ruston through against Horning and in the next round they will be at home to Aldborough. Corpusty travelled to Lyng and banged in six to advance to the next round when they will be on their travels again, this time to North Walsham ‘A’ who for their part saw off Haisboro Athletic by a 5-3 margin. The other tie pairs together Coltishall and Gimingham.

In the Rivett Motors Division Two League Cup Cromer Youth Old Boys lead the way in scoring stakes hitting double figures away at Aldborough Lion Reserves and their reward for that will be a home tie against Aylsham ‘A’.

Blakeney were odd goal winners of five over Buxton Reserves and they now travel to Mundesley in the next round. Corpusty Reserves were 2-0 home winners over Hickling and now travel to Holt ‘A’ who themselves were convincing winners over Gimingham Reserves. The remaining tie sees Erpingham take on Cawston

In the league Slater & Firth Division One leaders Coltishall, thanks to goals from Wayne Nelson & Scott Baker, recorded an away win at Worstead and Gimingham hit Aldborough for six to climb up the table.

In the Knights Trophies Division Three, Plumstead Rangers suffered their first setback in the league when they went down 1-0 at home to Mundesley Reserves that allowed Glaven Valley to close the gap as they won 4-0 at Erpingham Reserves.
