CROWN FIRE CENTRAL & SOUTH LEAGUE: eSaham Toney are the early leaders of Division 1. They followed up a midweek win over Shipdham with a crushing 10-1 away defeat of Rockland Utd. to send a very clear signal to all the other title hopefuls.

They followed up a midweek win over Shipdham with a crushing 10-1 away defeat of Rockland Utd. to send a very clear signal to all the other title hopefuls. Mulbarton Wanderers retained their 100% record with an only goal of the game win at home to Dereham Town A in a match well refereed by Ian Conway. East Harling Res. got the better of Gressenhall in a high scoring match and squeezed home by the odd goal of 11. Shipdham secured their first points with a 4-1 win at Hingham Athletic and Yaxham recorded their first win with a 5-1 home win over Toftwood Rangers.

The only other League match was in Division 4 and Fakenham Town A beat one of the other League newcomers Castle Acre Swifts 2-1.

The rest of the programme was given over to the 1st and 2nd rounds of the Ben Smith Memorial Cup, the League's premier Cup competition. In the 1st round, there was one giant killing result with Beetley from Division 4 knocking out 2nd Division outfit Necton Res. courtesy of a 7-1 scoreline. Cockers won by the odd goal of five at Attleborough Town A while Wendling eventually got the better of Bradenham Wanderers Res., beating them 4-2 after extra time. Watton Utd. A achieved the same score against Tacolneston and West End won 4-3 at Hindolveston.

In the 2nd round matches, there were some notable upsets with good wins for three League newcomers Hethersett Athletic beat Dickleburgh by the odd goal of three, Northwold S&SC won 4-2 at Gressenhall Res. and Shropham Utd. Res. beat Yaxham Res. 4-1. Bawdeswell beat Bunwell 2-1 away and Hingham Athletic Res. did likewise with a win at Colkirk. Wymondham Town A won 3-1 at Breckland Wanderers while Foulsham Res. beat Thetford Rovers Res. 5-3. Saham Toney Res. ran out 6-2 winners at Methwold Rovers, Swanton Morley beat Great Cressingham at home by the odd goal of five and Thurton & Ashby netted five times without reply from Rockland Utd. Res.
